SPOILER ALERT: devs have sense of humour!

Okay, so maybe not much of a spoiler but it took me 3 plays through the mission before I had my OMFG moment.

A gas refinery in orbit...
A security chief with a cybernetic prosthetic on his head...
A station administrator who makes a deal with the Empire to hand you over...

Nope, I'm not talking about The Empire Strikes Back but the mission at Gasko Station. I totally didn't get it until I walked behind Tobol (Lobot backwards) and literally moaned when I realised it had taken me so long to spot it.

Thank you, devs and writers, for making this geeks day.

hehe, and the rack of torpedos looks suspiciously similar to the way old Naval torpedos were stored.

I noticed that and had a good little chuckle at that, nice to see random stuff like that thrown in.

That's like the 'Wasteland' story arc is just one huge tribute to old westerns. They've got the tired old sheriff (Law); the new gun in to clean up the town (the player); the local gunslinger that everyone fears (Hassan); the saloon and bartender; the attempt to kill the new gun by trapping them out in the desert; the abandoned ruins take the place of the classic abandoned mine; the old sheriff regaining the mettle he lost and having one last shootout to bring the bad guys in; not one, but two assaults on the outlaw hideout...

And my personal favorite - lots of good westerns have the scene with the outlaws in the canyons, and sun-baked lizards on rocks out in the desert... Cryptic combined both by making the outlaws in the canyons the sun-baked lizards in 'Fistful of Gorn'. (Which helps give it away - 'Fistful of Gorn'? Can anyone else say Clint Eastwood in 'Fistful of Dollars'?)

Yeah, most of the Romulan storyline is rife with homages.

There was even a dialogue during the last Elachi mission that was almost an exact mirror of a conversation near the end of Mass Effect 2(potentially declaring you 'won't leave anyone behind'). It got reworded slightly at launch though.

Indeed, while I never personally played the ME games, the whole Elachi Storyline has a massive Reaper vibe.
'Ah, yes, "Elachi". We have dismissed those claims.'

Then there's also the fact that, basically, Sela and Hakeev are trying to turn you into some kind of... "Mol'Rihannisu Candidate" in 'Mind Games'.

And the OP mentioned ESB? 'Gasko Blues', yeah, but also 'Best Defence' - you're flying a small craft to defend a city against enemy walkers to give the people there time to evacuate... can we say 'Hoth battle'?

I wonder if Jiro is a descendant of this Ambassador Sugihara?

Of course the stargate would complain about nobody mentioning the Stargate reference...
