So, why can't FED cruisers have dual cannons/heavy cannons?

Because they can't turn for $&@#. Cruisers use beams due to the fact they can't keep the dhc on target. If your still silly about dhc get the deadnaught or vesta 3 pack.

My Odyssey can easily keep things in DHC range when Separated... Therefore your argument is invalid. Also a number of the Assault Cruisers can be made to turn fast enough to make them Viable and if we are talking PvE most enemies hardly move anyway.

its because Federation ships dont use duel cannons in the shows (except for the defiant of course).

So... What you are saying is... It is not Canon for them to use Cannons? Well... I would agree with you except that STO has gone sooooooo far away from Canon thanks in large part to the stupid Lock Box stuff and those ships that I need to borrow language from the Borg and say that Canon is Irrelevant.

I must say that I, too, am completely puzzled why the game designers chose not to allow it. Sure, it is not canon for the Galaxy to use dul heavy cannons. But it is also not canon for her to use Tetryon beams, so serously, I don't find that argument very convincing.

And turnrate? Come on, there are ways around that, especially since the launch of LOR.

Add to that the fact that DHC's are just... a lot more useful than other energy weapons, to say the least... apparently designed to be THE weapon of choice... which they shouldn't be anyway... and the astonishment becomes almost unbearable.

Sure, you can use other weapons to do some damage, but the difference in performance is just so obvious... I just don't get how the devs coul not even acknowledge that there is an imbalance.

I don't see why people are complaining, why I remember just a few weeks ago...maybe more posting in some thread about some people boasting about being able to do 10k hell even one claimed 15k damage in a cruiser with beams using dual Aux2Bat build.

So either that is a boldface lie and no one called this person out on it or well you're doing more than fine with beams considering you have more hull and shields than escorts and cruisers can do awesome damage.

Either way if anyone deserves some more damage its Science ships.

I notice no one is complaining about Sci ships not having cannons, if you want to be so selfish then I'm glad cruisers don't get cannons! :P

Science ships don't need dual cannons, they're scary enough as it is.

Cannons are the only things Sci ships don't get.

Let's look at the Fed Cruisers for a minute here...

Okay, now, let's look at the KDF cruisers.

    Notice something?

    Let me help you.

    Assault Cruiser: turn rate: slow
    Vor'cha: turn rate: pretty good.

There's a KDF vessel with a Fed cruiser turn-rate. It's the Bort. and the Bort is, well...

not suitable to mount DHC or DC on even though it's permitted-doing a DC/DHC build on the Bortas is taking a massive DISadvantage-because bringing the nose on-target is a major chore with that design.

Yeahhh, there's nothing quite so pathetic and silly as a Bort with canons.. I should know, I've got one. Even bogified its still pretty uselesss as anything but a battering ram.. I let them brig my hull down below 50% then i hit ramming speed. sure i die, but i'll die anyway. At least ramming, I do some damage.

There's no good reason anymore, so much tech has been spread around and the game has become very homogenized. If somebody wants to put them on a cruiser, let them go at it.

This. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely hate the idea on cannons on ANY Starfleet ship for that matter, not counting the Defiant, but this game get's so blatantly uniform that there is no reason to prevent people from slotting DHCs, one would think the ONLY VIABLE WEAPON TYPE in the game, on cruisers.

Don't pretend there is any kind of diversity in STO - the second someone get's a toy, it get's adapted for everyone else because people whine instead of rolling another character on a another faction.
