Question about Weapons Power

I have a question about weapons power. I have enough consoles to raise my weapons power to 125. My question is now do I benefit from having additional consoles to weapons power? Will having an additional weapons power console keep my power levels from dropping and help me maintain a high power level so my weapons are performing better or is it just a waste because it caps at 125? Thanks in advance for any help.

    To an extent. Someone correct me if im wrong 8ut there are diminishing returns after a certain power level.
