Reward Packs - Console Packs

warvictorywarvictory Member Posts: 25 Arc User
I'm sure more than one player has argued that the reward pack consoles don't see fair to both factions. First of with the new consoles [Console Pack - Ionized Gas Sensor / Plasmonic Leech] gives the opportunity for Federation players to receive the Plasmonic leech console for around 1 million energy credits on the exchange, while KDF players have to pay 1000 zen to by the Vandal Destroyer (1000 zen being a $10 value).

The same goes for consoles like [Console Pack - Subspace Jump / Point Defense] - where Federation would have to pay 1000 zen to gain the point defense console and the KDF would have to pay 1500 zen to gain the subspace jump console.

All I'm suggesting is that the consoles in all the reward packs should be available to both factions and not faction specific. The console should either be chosen by the opener or a random drop by opening it.

I'm sure this point has been brought up before but it's very worth bringing up again.

And the feds don't have to buy the ships to get the consoles that the klingons get for "free" from reward packs?

Yes - I'm saying that for both factions.

Not really, it makes sense. The consoles are supposed to be integral technology part of the KDF/Fed fleets so the only way for the other side to get hold of it would be to capture enemy ships.

As you can't do that in this game, it makes sense that they stick them in the lockboxes as a secondary prize.
It's better than the alternative, which was that consoles weren't available at all to the other faction.

I'm saying that it makes the consoles too available. The consoles are easier to get for the opposite faction then the faction that owns the ship the console comes from. So on one side a player pays 1 mil ec or less (which is very easy to get) and the other side has to pay 1000+ zen. The boxes should be open to both factions.

Well, remember that when you pay zen for it, it unlocks that console for all of your characters for that faction. Even any future ones you create. If you buy the console off of the exchange, it's a one shot deal. You have to go buy multiples of it if you want it on more than 1 character. I don't think that's such a bad trade off to be honest.

Buying 10 consoles off the exchange would be easier then buying one ship for 1000 zen. Assuming you bought and sold 7 lockbox keys on the exchange for 1.5 mil apiece (10.5 mil ec) and bought the reward packs with that money - the amount of zen needed to gain all the packs would still be less than 1000 zen (875 zen buying keys at 125 apiece - 787.5 zen if you bought the 10 pack). How many players have 10 characters of the same faction?

I think you miss the point that you can easy buy the consolpack from the exchange, but someone has payed money for opening the lockbox and the average chance zu get a consolepack from it is what? 10% or less?

So if you buy a ship from the store all chars of this faction have access to it and the console for 500 to 2000 zen depending on the ship.

To get one Consolepack from the Lockbox, it will cost about 1125 Zen (for a 10 pack keys) by a 10% chance to win the console, and then that can only be used by one character.

So if you need then this console for 3, 4, 5 or more chars the cost is at the end is much higher, and you should remeber every key that is used by someone was buyed with real cash.

and as example, i self have 23 chars, 14 Fed, 9 KDF

Who opens the lockboxes for the console packs and not the ships?
