Basic Shuttle Build Suggestion

I'm going to say this works well on Type 10 and Capt. Yacht, but can be applied to most small craft. I like the Capt. Yatch, lots of hull and a free shield heal, I do understand that its only a Vet ship.

Weapon: Polaron Beam Array Type-S, Bio-neural Warhead
Set: Jem'Hadar Space Set MK XI
Device: Weapon Battery, Red Matter Cap
Engine Console: Armor of your Choice (good energy/kinetic resistance)
Science: Point Defense System
Tactical: Polaron MK XI (blue)

Universal BOFF: Beam Overload 1

Run 3x Operation Gamma, 1x Boldly They Rode, Bio-neural Warhead (FED look on exchange for reward box or KDF C-Store Ship), Point Defense System (KDF look on exchange, FED C-Store Ship) and as for the console that is your choice, I put a defense since you're going to get shot at.

I just wanna get a basic, effective build out there. Jem Set has lots of good bonuses for Shuttle, including an additional buff to Polaron weapons (basically free additional Tac console), a shield strip and extra weapons power. Polaron is a good all around weapon, with nice and effective proc. Bio neural Warhead is like getting an additional fighter into the fight with a rapid fire turret that kills most targets before it reaches it, so its going to spend most of its time circling the fight killing everything for you. The point defense system with its BONUS damage to fighters will take out entire waves of enemy fighters.

Please note, this is only a suggested build and something I use a variation of on most of my toons, drop your tips and suggestions. I'm tired of getting into shuttle events with only 2 equipped shuttles and the rest just stock flying around doing little to anything.

    Bio neural can be replaced by Harg peng if the bio is too hard to aquire. Otherwise nice build.
    Let us wear Swimsuits on Foundry maps or bridges please! I would pay zen for that.

    I replace the S-beam with a Mk XII purple turret. More damage.

    I would only replace it with a turret if I head the build in rapid fire. It's good steady dmg thoigh, the turret.

    I would really like to see a Fleet S-Beam.

    I would really like to see Shuttle gear that only goes on Shuttles.

    I find that compared to your VA ship with a bunch of BOFF abilties, a set ability and maybe a console Shuttles are a little bit boring, they play like a T1 ship. If the gear gave set abilities it would make shuttles a bit more interesting, I don't expect it to be a full on VA level ship but I'd like it to be more than a one button wonder.

    My shuttle is a Peregrine, I get more DPS out of a pair of DBBs and simply forget about rapid fire, its on too long a CD anyway.

    If you want that extra "oomph!" I suggest putting the phaser point defense console on it and if possible the shuttle deflector from the Aeon. Both are decent DPS cooldowns, particularly when facing the walkers and other hard targets. Finally, if you feel like grinding a little more Dil for ultimate shuttle pimpage you can get the engines from the Yellowstone Runabout. They act like a device that sets off Warp Plasma. I have yet to be in any situation where I've needed it, but its a neat thing to have.

    Edit: If you STILL wish to make your shuttle even better you can also look to getting the Tholian Rep console, that extra accuracy to beams will help mitigate the high defense of other shuttles/fighters as well as add to crit for bigger easier to hit targets, like the walkers. Keep in mind though, the Tholian marks are a PITA to get a pittance of.

    Having just got the Yellowstone (coincidentally getting my first shuttle mission too!), I am starting to do my research on shuttles.

    I'm curious why a basic build involves components from other ships that require C-store purchase?

    Don't get me wrong, anything better than "stock" is looked for, but maybe other (read: free :P) alternatives could be posted as a "basic" plan.

    Omega/Romulan plasma builds work better. Hazards can't keep all of the torpedoes cleansed, and the DoT is especially painful to shuttles.

    the yellowstone should do great with a pair of turrets and EPTW as a power with the jem set to give you bonus polaron damage polaron is a good choice
