Why are the graphics of Neverwinter so much better than those of STO?
Games made by the same company, use the same engine, and yet by comparison STO's ground maps / textures look like sharp, blocky TRIBBLE next to Neverwinter's.
Will STO ground maps get updated at some point to be as good looking?
actually, they ruined STO's graphics a long time ago.
If you were around in Season 4 you woulve noticed they totally nerfed alot of Social places down to dark empty places with as least possible detail 'because of the so called new f2p people' which are all supposedly still running old pentium 4's.
They made all the awesome space weapon effects cartoony, polarons were once awesome looking weapons, and they look **** now by comparison.
And in LOR, they decided to do a texture overhaul and the game looks more pixelated and too sharp then ever before. To make it even remotely clean to your eyes you pretty much need to run with 4x Sparse Grid super sampling to make it acceptable to the eyes.
Not even mentioning the now more then horrible and disgusting UI.

The only way to improve STO's textures would be to create new art assets. Something I do wish they would do with DX11 in mind when creating them.

Hats off to them!
What's wrong with a somewhat cartoonish art style?
Oh, wait, you're one of "those" people. Nevermind.
