Omg, i play conduit and Kithomer on elite every day, at least 7-8 times daily each. I can bet that i alone will defeat tac cube for couple of minutes, maybe 10 at most, and i still have patrol escort which i got for 50-th level, equi?ped with 2 tetryon XII DMGx3 and one phaser XII DMGx2 dual cannons + photon torpedo XI DMG x3 in front, and rare weapons are 2 tetryon beam arrays MK XII DMGx2 and Crthx3 plus tetryon turret XII dmgx3. Consoles on my ship are neutronium alloy purple mk X (!), sif generator and shield emmiters XI purple, tetryon mk XI blue (!) tac console, and torpedo MK XII and cannon tac console purple both.
Impulse, shield and deflector are all M.A.C.O MK X, first MACO set.
This ship is TRIBBLE in comparations what people's have, but i play maybe 5 months. With this ship, i can beat sphere solo, in 98% of cases, (sometimes when sphere is near gate, the gate destroy me, or other 2-3 spheres if they are near by), and here is my tactics: whan sphere is in my range, fastly i activate torpedo high yield 3 and rapid fire 3, attack patterns alfa and beta, tactical team 3, brace for inpact, at then start to shot a sphere, using all power i got, when sphere damege my shields, science team 2 are busy and i cannot use it because of tac team 1 and 2 that im using, but emergency power to shields and hazzard emmiters does the job until science team is ready, if that isnt enough, i simply go away from the sphere, turn on beam overload because i use beam array as rare weapons, and turn on evasive manuevers, and very fast im out of sphere range; then sphere start to chase me, i run out until science team, hazard emmiters and emergency power to shield do the job (in tight time sometimes i use shields battery for faster reloading), so when sphere again comes in range, im full with shields and hull, and sphere didnt, so i just again simple start torpedo, cannons yield and fire, attack pattern alfa and beta and fire on my mark, and sphere is destroyed for 30 seconds most.
The similar tactics i use for cube, but true, just 2 times i succeded to beet tac cube on elite all alone. Im trying to be at border about 7-9 km out of cube, and fire on her with all i got, and turn on fire on my mark and attack patern beta, bucause they gives me ability to reduce power of opponent weapon for some little time, when shiled start to drain and drop, fastly evasive manuevers, hazard emiters, and em-power-tho shields, if hull drops below 40%, i call fleet support. Sometimes, i drop turret beside me, and cube shoot turret when im escaping, so i have time to escape. Then i come back, and do that again. Time is short and tricky, sometimes cube kills me with one shot, i dont even see what is it, but - its borg cube, its suppose to be horror. But, 1 hour for cube, im assured i can destroy it myself for half of that time, really, even with my crappy ship
Server seems pretty busy to me since last down time yesterday.
You really should be able to solo cubes in STFs though or you need to work on your build. Its possible with any character class or ship type, I use soloing a cube on elite as one of my tests to see if a new build is viable or not. Even without rep gear yet its not that hard.
What instance were you in? I mean if you were in #17, then the other 16 could of been full. In most instance it seems 25 players is the limit.
Will you please get a clue??
Last night i ran three STF elite missions and this morning the "Easy" CE mission. In every single one of them ( after the "emergency" maintenance ), everyone one else quit the STF's in disgust, leaving me by myself.. I'm sorry, but my little ship cannot solo a borg cube and it certainly cant solo the CE.. I can only assume that these other people at some point will also stop playing the game, so will you PLEASE get a clue and DE-buff whatever it was you did to make everything so screwed up with these missions. i do NOT want to play alone..
Well if you pug elite STFs' then you should honestly expect this.
The worst thing about them, in my experience, is that you will ALWAYS have at least 1 noob who doesn't have components to fix his damaged ship systems. (Or even worse) A noob who comes in with multiple dmg'd systems. These people are simply useless! They shouldn't even be allowed to enter STF's with dmg's systems.
Worst story for me in a pug: One person on the team gets killed w/in the 1st couple of minutes. Respawns. Dies again w/in a couple of minutes. Respawns and hast 2 systems dmg'd. Fleet mates and I start telling him to fix his busted TRIBBLE ship. After his 3rd death and no fixes we're giving him some grief. To which he finally replies:
I'm camped @ ds9 shipyard. I always fix my ship there after an STF.
We had absolutely no words to this statement lol.
Just stop pug'ing. Let the "special" kids go it alone.
Carry components ppl pls!
Yeah you should probably watch the video. We did one STF, not three. Also, not a premade, it was literally a pick up group of guys from our allied fleets.
point is... i am not knocking your ability (far from it, if that is how it seemed, i apologize). What I am saying is that the Elites are still too easy, if a non-premade (albeit familiar team) can complete with a significant portion of the timer remaining.
My fleet and allies were rather concerned with the reports of STFs being rather hard and taking an hour and a half to kill a single tac cube. After a lot of disucssion, five random guys from our inter-fleet channel got together to test these out. We had to rush as the server was coming down, so we ended up with three beam cruisers, a beam dreadnought carrier and a bugship, captained by four tacs and an engineer.
Took us roughly five minutes.
Yeah, the spheres are kind of funny now that they've got EPTE, but they're hardly invincible. The cubes melted, the gate did practically nothing, and the nanite spheres didn't even have enough time to get halfway to the generators before we blew them up.
One of our team members recorded it for everyone to watch, if you wanted some pointers on how to beat an STF. It sounds like some of you may need it.
I'll second that they are still as easy as they were b4 the patch.
However, chasing spheres with a perma-EPTE is rather annoying if not pointless. It does not make the STF challenging but annoying as hell. At least to me.
If they want to make STFs challenging they should devise different gameplay mechanics altogether.

Sorry for the confusion there.
No worries at all, thanks for clearing it up.
Got to agree with you, elites are really, really easy. I enjoy the fact that npcs are now using more emergency power to X abilities and even batteries, and hope Cryptic continues tweaking the AI to give us a more challenging experience.
But you know what? I guess it doesn't matter now does it? By being allowed to visit their studios Cryptic has pretty much signed off on you and your fleet haven't they? They've said in deed what most of us have suspected for years. They're not going to stop you. They're not going to correct you. You won. After long last, you really, really won. STO is yours and no one is going to do a thing about it. Congratulations.

While pugging within our fleets we were down to only hive elite being available. We decided to do a run of that with a couple of not so experienced or geared guys. I went in with a tier 4 kdf cruiser fitted with only green gear but reasonable boff layout. I did this as a demonstration. I managed to do 2.2k dps with a fantastic 8 deaths (low effective hit points with bad gear). I quite often see players performing well below this in the easier elites but that's what you get with pugs.
For some players the elites are too tough but they don't realise it's more time efficient earning marks from normal STFs than floundering around being bad at an elite.
I'm used to the comedy four guys can't protect kang while I'm the only one progressing the STF. There are a lot of bad players giving the worst advice in STFs. Though I must admit it's hilarious when someone who can't even fit a non-rainbow configuration or slot their boffs tells me I'm bad at sto.
