This may have been talked about before but... what if we had the option in STO where we start as an ensign then get assigned to a ship and instead of being captain we work our way up the ranks. For example you are a science bridge officer, well you can go on away teams perform profession specific tasks to earn XP, make choices that affect what direction your career takes and like it is now go through 10 grades and make next rank. When you make Lt. Cmdr or maybe Cmdr you get command of a ship, I realize this would probably require re-working of the different tiers of ships but like I said you have the option of playing this way or the way we currently play. What do you guys think?
