Ok the title might be a bit extreme, but Playing my Rommie has led me through a Trek like experience that I thought wasn't ever possible to do in a MMO, and I like it. I'm referring to shows where they use moon magnetic fields, weapons fire, etc to hide from sensors - something that normally wouldn't be found in the game.
to cut a long story short, I decided to take a crack at a little PvP fun with my little warbird, and got into a fight with a feddie flying a ddrex (horrible turn rate, very disappointed in that ship BTW). I was flying across from his right, to left shield's to wear them down while he turned to try and get a shot on me. - just then I noticed the scrum that was the rest of the battle was right in front of his flight path. - my ship was hurting bad, while he had about 70% hull and was keeping his shields up in the yellow range. I needed to get away and heal myself a little.
as I crossed his left shields I popped my red matter and hit as hard as I could then stayed straight and flew into the fight going on in front of us, just as some klink buddies of mine started blowing up - I quickly fired off the singularity jump to get away from the ships blowing up, hit my battle cloak, and cut my engines to watch the mayhem.
I'm not entirely sure if the feddies got caught in the BoP's explosions, or my little singularity storm left behind or what, but everyone started blowing up at that point. It was pretty funny - but then out of the fire comes Ddrex guy flying right at me, most of his shields down to yellow, cept the one I hammered on which was nearly down - and lot's of hull damage that wasn't there a second ago.
as he pulls through the carnage, he turns his left shield directly in front of my forward cannons - close enough that my automated defence turret took a pop shot at him - dropping my cloak 4m off his hull - a full fire with my cannons, and a high yield bio torp was all she wrote for him.
Considering that PvP is full with people who are not "Pro" right now (myself included) - this series of events was a real eye opener as to what the new expansion could add - combined with a tractor beam, that singularity jump could be the poor mans Picard Maneuver - something I never would have considered trying until now.
