Singularity core damage sources and modding them? Need help

I'm reluctant from moving forward with progression on my character till I know what exactly i'm dealing with here.
So i'm trying to figure out what the damage sources are for the singularity abilites, or even if they can be modded from skills/items.
My guess is plasma for the rank 1 ability and maybe exotic particle for others? Are any or all affected by any of the skills, or +plasma damage/ ex-particle items?
No stickies about this, nor has the wiki updated info on this, or anything easily yielded on search.
I'm a two minds about what to do with my 1 character slot.. tac energy dps, or science particle if the damage sources from the singularity can be modded.
