Did "Experimental Warp Core Upgrade" make it live?

decker73adecker73a Member Posts: 96 Arc User
During the closed beta test on Tribble I ran a Duty Officer Assignment in the Engineering Category called Experimental Warp Core Upgrade a few times (a Warp Core counterpart to the Experimental Impulse Engine, Deflector and Space Shield upgrade assignments) to obtain some warp cores. I've been looking for this assignment since Legacy of Romulus went live. I've logged in 5 characters so far and searched several sector blocks looking for it but it just isn't coming up. Does anybody know if this duty officer assignment made it live? I know it was on Tribble before the character wipe, but I never checked after the character wipe.

I ran it last night, although it's slightly bugged. The first two DOffs are required to be matter-antimatter specialists (as with all the engineering crafting assignments), while the second two are required to be from the science department but have matter-antimatter specialist as a success trait (which you can't slot, since m-a specialist is in engineering). The assignment completes fine, you just have to deal with not being able to slot for success in the 3rd and 4th slot.

Thanks. Just wanted to be sure that I wasn't chasing a non-existant assignment.

It's live, I just found it myself under my engineering department head mission list.

Yeah, Experimental X Upgrade missions are very iffy to find. You're totally at the mercy (or lack thereof) of the RNG when it comes to finding them.

It's fascinating that those bugs exist, like the Commendation Fleet Mark missions. The military one requires a Tactical department, but the specialty is Assault Squad Officer which is security. Very weird. They should do a quick QA on all of those. A level 4 diagnostic as it were.

I ran this mission yesterday, and woke up to find a very rare purple warp core built by my team of purple doffs. :D These purple warp core cant't be found anywhere else since they can't be crafted, not available from dilithium or fleet store and none from reputation system so I sell them for 70+ million ec on the exchange. :)

Nope, I believe it works just like the other experimental upgrade missions.

For those trying to track the assignment, it *probably* has a cooldown of 24h from completion. I did it on Tuesday not long after the servers first came up, and was able to grab it again today (Thursday) more than 24h but less than 48h from when the assignment would have completed on Tuesday. Since the cooldowns on most assignments are in full day amounts, I think it's likely that the cooldown is 24h.

They've screwed up new assignments before when they get introduced. Sometimes I think they just copy/paste code to do new stuff and forget to check things are 100% ok. Unless you get a dev to notice it, it will stay bugged for a while since their priority seems to be fixing the messed up CE elite event which is impossible to complete right now.

Me too. MkXI Purple with all the fixings. First time out too, it was wonderful.

I think the exchange price on purple Matter/Anti-Matter specialists is going up.

I got one almost right away on a KDF character, haven't seen it with the others yet. But it's in the rotation with all the others.

I had a second one yesterday, it again went critical, so netted another purple warp core. Alas, the price on Exchange have come down but I still sold it for a huge sum. :)

For the two required M/A-M specialists, both of them are purple with 1 trait each that corresponds to critical success. But the two Science doff, they each have two traits that correspond to critical success. So far, I have been pretty lucky.

That said, it's hard to find a Warp Core that corresponds exactly to what one is looking for. There are so many variations even within one same category of warp cores. I am still using a blue one because none of the purple ones on sale correspond to what I am looking for. I wonder when will Mk XII warp core makes appearance.

They may have gotten added to the standard Borg loot tables.

just gotta be in the right sector then check under your engineering boffs assignment list.
Sector doesn't matter. It's an on-ship assignment from your Engineer.

Does too, I can be flying around BU and its not in my engineer but when I go into DS9 space its there.

Each sector you go to has a different random assortment of Experimental upgrades. so yeah, changing from DS9 to BU, etc... gives you another chance at finding it. But, all sectors seem to be equally likely.

If you can't find chances are if you Join DOFFJOBS or the DOFFCALL channel someone in their will post if they have it and you can visit their ship to get it, I know cause I have seen others invite and myself have invited numerous persons. if you get there and don't see it you are probably on the global cool down which is either 12 or 24 hours

when visiting someone else's bridge you have to talk to their department head in person to get the assignment.

I am aware of how they work, they just dont show up.

Is there something special you need to do or achieve in order to see the mission or what ?

As it was stated by a few others, there's a cooldown and random appearance to what sector of space you are currently in.

For me...found the assignment in Borg space. Will be getting a Blue one in the next few hours

I know there is a cooldown, but what people seem to be missing which I said before I have been invited to at least 3 peoples bridge who said their engineer had it through doffcall channel and fleet but upon checking it was not there.

I have NEVER done it before so there would be no cooldown either.
