I said sometime ago that I'd buy some Zen if Cryptic did enough to the KDF side before releasing the Romulans, and it looks like they have. So I need to cough up at least something.
Equally at the same time I thought that a couple of minor upgrades could be flung at my Neverwinter account.
And this is where it all goes wonky.
I logged onto the PWE site to buy some Zen, jump through their hoops like a good little customer (although the chances of PWE getting my phone number are nil!), spotted a package for the correct amount of Zen at the right price, and was about to click buy when I noticed that it was in Euro's.
Better change that I thought. Spent the next 15 minutes looking around for the option to change location (I thought it might auto update the currency if I did that) and/or currency.
Nope, I'm in Europe and so I WILL use Euros if I like it or not.
Nuts to that! If I make a euro payment then several things happen. First my card gets flagged as having suspicious activity and gets temporarily locked, this causes a hassle to unlock it. Its happened before, normally it involves every phone I own going nuts as the banks automatic system attempts to contact me, and a long phone call answering questions.
Next I get stung by charges for currency conversion.
Now if I was to pay by Pounds, then it'll just float through without a blip on the system. Plus in Euro's I have no idea what that is in proper money (yes I know XE.com, but that added an added layer of TRIBBLE about, and yes I'm being lazy. Make a transaction easy to complete and people will do more of them)
So how does one change the currency? If you can't, doesn't PWE think it would be a good idea to enable the ability to use one of the major currencies in the world?
I am hoping to see Klingon/Romulan refits (like in Star Fleet BATTLES) for both the KDR and Romulan army. Be nice to fly them ships retrofitted, of course.
The Romulans eventually signed the "Treaty of Smarba" with the Klingon Empire, which supplied the Romulans with advanced Warp drive and a number of mothballed Klingon vessels in exchange for drawing Federation forces away from the Klingon border. These Klingon-built starships were fitted out with Romulan weaponry and cloaking devices (as seen in The Enterprise Incident). This technology allowed the Romulans to develop a new series of vessels which caused significant headaches to their enemies.
The Romulans in the Star Fleet Universe held a long-standing enmity with the Gorn Confederation, but their old "Eagle" series warships were no match against the advanced Gorn warships. The Klingon Empire even launched devastating raids against Romulan frontier bases and squadrons, and was planning a full-scale invasion were it not for the misfortune of the Tholians' arrival. The extragalactic Tholians drove a wedge between the Klingons and Romulans, arriving in the region of Klingon space where the invasion was being prepared. The Klingons kept these events a secret from the Romulans for a long time. The Romulans eventually emerged in the post-Smarba period with a powerful new fleet composed of "Kestral" (Klingon-built vessels) and "Hawk" (hybrid) series fleets, along with extensively retrofitted "Eagle" vessels. After the Klingon Empire persuaded the Romulans to enter the General War, the Romulans invaded the already besieged Federation on what they called "The Day of the Eagle". Despite significant strategic advances into Federation space, they were eventually driven back to their own borders, and suffered a devastating wartime catastrophe on Remus.
After the General War, the Romulan Empire erupted in civil war, had their border stations destroyed by the Interstellar Concordium in the course of the ISC War of Pacification, and subsequently aided in resisting the Andromedan invasion. A bruised Romulan Republic emerged from the ruins of their once proud star empire.

I use a UK only ISP, and the IP traces back to a UK location.
I believe their server in Europe is in the Netherlands, and they don't have a separate setup just to process British pounds, so everything goes to Euros.
