Science Officer Vesta Help

Hello all. Was hoping to get some help from the knowledgable community here on a Science VA in "Tactical " Vesta. Right now my Science VA only has access to the "Tac" Vesta, just starting the rep with Omega/Romulan Republic, and no access to fleet gear. I would like to be able to fly the ship in STFs/ESTFs and also do the PvE Solo content. Also, a general question, do any of you find the subsystem targeting very useful in PvE? I haven't really used it much so I am not certain. Anyway, and advice on gear/talent spec/BoF/Doff would be greatly appresiated. Thanks in advance.

run the tactical vesta with a tactical set up...no cannons tho..

tac team 1, high yeild 2, Beam overload 3, omega 3
    highyeild 1, beam overload 2

Emergency power to shilds 1, 2

    Jam 1, Transfer 2, hazard 3
    transfer 1

best set up ever.... with 2 purple tac team duty officers and 2 purple distribute shields when brace for impact duty officers and 1 purple duty officer that gives you x resistance when you press brace for impact

1 romulan dual beam bank or experimental beam and 2 plasma torps (romulan and omega)
    2 turrets and cutting beam.....

Love that set up on my ship :)))

I don't use the subsystem targeting. It's nice, but it's not essential, and it gimps any build that takess advantage of the Vestas best advantage-the aux cannons. I haven't played with my Vesta all that much, but I'd recommend using 3x Aux cannons.

I don't find subsystem targeting useful in PvE. Unless you have a really, really high amount of flow caps and can pull down a system from 50 to 0. For the innate subsystem targeting (which is rank 1) that requires near epic amount Flow Cap stacking, with pretty much everything that is in the game for Flow Caps being used (5x Embassy consoles, maxed skill, Triats including Trill, etc.).

I'm still playing around with a build for LoR(already been playing around on Tribble LoR, so some ideas already), but some things to get you started:
Get an Overcharged [A->W] Warpcore, this makes the Aux cannons a lot easier to use, as you can set Aux to max and then a portion of Aux gets directed to Weapons, 50/25 should be no trouble and higher is possible depending on Skills and other hardware.

    3x Aux Cannons
3x rear turrets, until you get the Kinetic Cutting Beam. With 360 degree kinetic damage, the KCB is nice to use even without any of the other pieces.

Jem'Hadar Mk XI set is decent leveling gear, though I'd change to MACO shields when you can or Borg 3 piece. Once you hit Tier 5, my thoughts are grabbing Adapted MACO Engines and Deflector for the 2-piece 8.8 Aux bonus.

I'm going with a heal/DPS hybrid currently on my Vesta for BOff layout:
    Universal Lt. Com, Tac:
Tactical Team 1, Cannon Rapid Fire 1, Attack Pattern Beta 2 (might change this to Attack Pattern Omega 1, as I use the Rademaker's console to get out of holds)
    Tac Lt:
Tactical Team 1, Cannon Scatter Volley 1

With two DOffs reducing Cannon Ability Cooldown, I have choice of using CRF and CSV most of the time. This helps with STFs, as you can go from single target CRF for Transformers to CSV for Sphere clumps as needed.

    Eng Lt.:
Emergency Power to Shields 1 (note: this hasn't been nerfed for LoR, though it was briefly nerfed on Tribble), Auxiliary to Structural 1

    Uni Ens:
    Emergency Power to Shields 1

You pretty much need to cycle EPtS if you're taking fire in a Vesta for the shield resist, if
your shields go down in the Vesta, your limited hull means you're pretty much dead.

    Sci Comm:
Hazard Emitters 1, Transfer Shield Strength 2, Hazard Emitters 3, Gravity Well 3.

    Consoles:
Focus on Aux Power and Shields (capacity and Emitters), and then 4x Phaser Relays for Tactical. I'm not quite sure exactly to recommend, as I'm using the 3-pack, a Fleet Embassy console, and the Console from Romulan Reputation. I don't bother with more than one Neutronium armor, as the limited hull means you pretty much have to rotate EPtS and Aux2SIF, which both give resistance boosts.

dont listen to the first guy, that is a bad (or simply troll) build.

I suggest checking my links out below, there is an aux dhc build in the works (one of the topic has some conversation about it, but nothing solid yet, I will need to run tests ofc to see if the ideas are viable), and if there is demand for it, I might recheck some of the boff powers, to change the layout for it to comply with the LoR changes (EPTS would be changed to EPTW, thats from the top of my head)

edit: also subsystem targeting is pretty useless (if the KCB got a subsystem targeting capability, that would be great, tho the only real use for it would be on the Vesta (and escorts with too many tac slots), but that would only make them OP (both cases)

Here's my Vesta, I do alright in Elite STF's...

    Fore: (3) Aux DHC
Aft: (3) MK XI very rare phaser turrets [acc][crth][dmg]

Tac: (4) MK XI rare phaser relay
Eng: MK XI rare Neutronium, MK XI very rare Plasma Distribution Manifold
Sci: MK XI rare Field Generator, Borg Console, Quantum Field Focus Phaser, MK XI very rare Shield Emitter Amplifier

Borg Space Set (had before the reputation system), otherwise go for the Jem hadar set until you can unlock the reputation tier, I plan on replacing the Borg shield with a Maco shield.

    Lt Tac: TT1, CRF1
    Lt Cdr Uni (Tac): TT1, APB1, CRF2
    Lt Eng: EPTS1, ATSIF1
Cdr Sci: HE1, TSS2, TBR2, GW3 (repulsors is just something I like and I use it well, but HE3 would be a nice replacement)
    Ens Uni (Eng): EPTS1

Doffs: Energy Weapons (reduce cooldown on cannon abilities)
Damage Control (reduce cooldown on Emergency powers)
Shield Distribution (regen shields with Brace for Impact)
Warp Core (increase power on use of Emergency powers)
can't remember (provides heal over time when using Aux to SIF)

Hangar: Advance Danube (peregrines just blow up way too fast)

Oh, and I set my power levels in a way that gets weapons to around 80 and aux to 120, can't remember exact base numbers though. My skills are maxed for aux/shield/weapon power

Thanks guys for the inputs. I suppose whenever the servers come back up I will give these a try. Funny, my main VA is a Tac in an Odyssey and he does quiet well...I just get tired of going in circles tac teaming and BFaW over and over (things do die and I "usually" don't...but it does get a bit dull). Hoping to have a little more involvement with my Science VA. Thanks again all.
