A few nights ago, I decided to put up some master keys on the exchange since I have quite a few that have been sitting in my inventory for months on end.
Anyhow, I was very tired and managed to get 30 put up and without realizing it I placed a full batch of 10 for like 1.5 million. Needless to say, before I could even click back to take the item down it was gone.
I kind of laughed cause I knew that whomever was lurking on the exchange was probably screaming out a big "Hell Yeaaaaah...." in front of their computer.
I once, through totally random luck, was able to buy a Fleet Ship Module for... 100 EC.
I have no idea how that happened, but to whoever sold it... thanks! And I hope you enjoyed your 100 EC as much as I enjoyed selling your module for 5 million.

I had something similar happen to me, but for the better!
Opening some boxes, Trying to get a Wells Class...
Oh look, another mirror ship!
Better sell it for 80,000 (Roughly what they where going for at the time) But i put one to many 0 on the end...
I thought nothing of it, and forgot about it and went to bed ,on the way thinking that i'll have to remove it in the morning because who's going to buy one for that price?!?
That kind of sucks, but I have heard of it happening, and have had things sell pretty fast myself, virtually instantly in some cases (I tend to undercut the market by 15-20% to make quick ec and not have to think about it anymore).
On the other side I have bought items as they appeared, usually it was colonists (to quickly get through the "Colonize ..." missions all over the galaxy), I would see one for 15k (instead of the usual 20-25K) and grab it, only to have a different one appear, who I would then buy, only to have another appear (as it "re-searches" after every purchase).
And with like 2 Million people playing, it stands to reason that SOMEONE, SOMEWHERE is searching for the thing you are posting one nanosecond after you posted it, and so have already bought it by the time your computer even resets your screen to tell you it went up.
I am glad that you seem to have a good attitude about it at least.
I will admit, I've been the "Hell Yeah" guy a few times. Last month I nabbed a key for 30,000 ec.
*raises a hand shamefacedly* i am one of those guys too, got most of the equipment for my romulans that way over the last months (fleetmodules, MKII-XII Consoles, point defense console, purple KDF DOFF packs [1.8 mil for a random purple??? ha-ha! what about... no!]...), most of the time i simply refuse to pay bazillions of EC for something like a point defense console just because some speculators corner the market.
Beta, LTA, CE, Multiple preorder Versions, all Addon Packs except AoY, nearly all KDF/Rom and ~50% of all Fedships, over 25 LockboxShips, Endurer of Atari's "Year of Hell", but...
Better sell it for 80,000 (Roughly what they where going for at the time) But i put one to many 0 on the end...

Yeah, I routinely post gamma quad commodities for 2x the lowest value and in a few days someone's bought it! Thank you Exchange's bad search function!
I always double check my values before I post. So have not given away stuff, but I do love taking other's mistakes. Got a rare AP Mag Regulator XI for ~9k (aka vendor value)
It's somewhat fun trolling the Exchange looking for deals. I'll clear out engines/shields/deflectors from the exchange when people post them under vendor value. I don't make alot of $ from that, but it's easy money.
I've gotten several things for "oops" prices and on the occasion the person messages me, provided it's not "f u" or something similar, I give it back for what I paid. Actually I'd bet most people would do that as long as you ask nicely and don't demand they give it back or insult them.

So you'd give me back a Temporal Science Vessel box if I missed a 0 off the end and accidentally sold it for 9 million instead of 90?
You're just a machine. And machines can be broken.
I haven't had it happened to me (knock on wood lol) where I put something on the exchange at a lower price and it got bought before I could change it. However I have got lucky with buying up pricey items for cheap and reselling them at the going price.
I wish I was as lucky as some who manage to grab underpriced ships. I've heard of a bug that went for 300k. lol
i had 2 keys and i didn't plan on using them but i did want to get more EC
instead of putting them up at the traditional price. i kinda smiled to myself and was like i'm going to undercut everybody by half. so i put up each one for 520k
before I could even place the other key on the market the first one was already gone. and then i placed the second key on for 400k and that was gone before i could even close the market window.
i just sorta laughed at how fast things sell. are there bots out there looking for those deals or are players really sitting there staring at the market screen like a robot waiting for amazing deals or accidents.

It is a peculiar phenomenon that we can imagine events that defy the laws of the universe.
