I'm back

I'm sorry that I haven't been around much the past few weeks. I've been kept busy on other stuff for the Legacy of Romulus release, but things are slowly returning to normal.

As to Legacy of Romulus and the Foundry, there's been some improvement but most of the big issues remain valid. Also, there is a bug in the new build where dialogs behind an invisible wall are not working. Yes, that one rears its ugly head again. :(

So, once Legacy goes live just keep doing what you've been doing. Use the Foundry and let me know where you run into new bugs. I'll keep adding them to The List and reminding the powers that be that they're there and need to be fixed.

Oh, while the import/export costume feature is currently disabled, the plan is to re-enable it once the bugs with that system can be hammered out.

As always, please be patient. Things move slowly but they do move.

    Good to see you back.

Dialogues behind an invisible wall don't work, gotcha, I'll avoid that.

As for the import button, our question is when. I don't speak for everyone, but my opinion is that a half-working tool is better than none at all. Even if you don't manage to fully correct the issues, it would be nice to see it again.

Also, if the issue you are trying to fix is having space costumes on ground, perhaps leave that be? It could actually help immersion if that was left as it is.

So don't quote me on this just yet, but I've been unable to reproduce the NPC/Boff disappearing in preview bug on Tribble.

Welcome back! Very glad to hear the import feature will (probably) be returning.

While you're fixing that, would it be possible to make it so that the list of importable files corresponds to their names in the Screenshot folder? It would save a lot of confusion.

    Welcome back !
I reported a bug few days ago, so I'll report it again there :
The "forcefield - broken 1" and "forcefield - horizontal 1", "Door - opening - blue/red/tan" are all invisible on the creation map (the one used to place props). However, they appear in the game map (preview and published). It makes placing those props extremly difficult.

Yes, I also hope that the space/ground ambiguity doesn't get fixed.

As usual, I can't even make a guess as to when.

As is there some errors and even crashes associated with the Import/Export function that need to be fixed before it can be re-enabled.

Welcome back CrypticFrost! I'm very glad - and especially relieved - to hear that the import-export feature for Foundry costumes isn't gone for good. Thank you! I wish you luck with the bug fixing.

However, I would also like to ask if there is any news on the addition of the remaining costumes and ship types that are missing from the Foundry's costume creator. I hope the Romulans at least get everything of theirs made available, seeing as the Federation and Klingon Empire are still missing costumes and ship types - like the famous "Fleet of 2409" ships - which were added to the game months to years ago.

For example, the Vesta (which was removed when it was leaked) has never been added back into the Foundry since its release. Costumes like the Jupiter line, open jacket variants of Starfleet uniforms, KDF Veteran, and Section 31 uniform are all still missing, to name a few. The M.A.C.O., Klingon Honor Guard, and Omega Force armors are all missing, as well.

Would it be possible at all to get these missing costumes and ship types added into the Foundry during this current maintenance, if they haven't already been added in Legacy of Romulus?

There have been new assets added, but not everything. You can thank Zeronius Rex for most of the new stuff that's been added.

How about this, once the Foundry's open again, I'd like you guys to help me compile a list of what's missing and I'll make sure it gets formally documented. I'll start a new thread for this.

    Re: Invis wall thing.

Does this also affect a prisoner inside of a brig? That is going to break one of my missions if I can't talk to the npc.

I can think of a work around, but it will be messy.

I expect it will break a number of missions, to be honest. I haven't tested that specific situation.

    Mr. Crypticfrost:

Any idea on when the Repulish of existing foundry missions will be 100% complete? (there's still a mission of mine that has yet to re-appear on the list - and we're going on 8 days since LoR was launched.)

Has the re-publish routine been suspended while you guys work on improving Holodeck server stability?

Any sort of word/update would be appreciated.

The workaround is easy. Just place an object outside of the cell and make interacting with that object trigger the dialogue rather than a talk to contact.

Of course, to put in workarounds, the editor has to be up *nudge nudge*

I played through the one mission of mine that's up last night, called "Over There". Everything seemed to be ok except for one combat mob that didn't spawn, which messed up a bit of popup dilaogue. However, this wasn't part of an objective so the mission was still completable.

For anyone who needs to talk to a prisoner through a forcefield, this post will help you (once Foundry editing is re-enabled.) The broken forcefield allows one-way interaction.

CrypticFrost, are you already aware of the "Requested Assets: Foundry" thread over on the discussion & feedback foundry subforum? While the features requested would take longer (although stun/disable is a must), there are a lot of assets such as existing props that shouldn't be too much more work to add in than the missing costumes. The first few posts haven't been updated to reflect recent requests, however.

Also, the Foundry mission review feature is *not* disabled on live, when it should be. A lot of good missions are taking some nasty hits because of bugs, due to this. The republishing process is also taking a very, very long time, when I heard it only needs a few hours.

I'll see what I can find out on the review issue.

With all due respect, you heard wrong on republishing. Due to the sheer volume of Foundry projects that exist, republishing them all takes days.

Frost is right, it always takes a long time. There are more and more missions each time they have to go through the process. People always start to freak out by the start of week two. I know that from experience cause I was one of them in the past. We just need to have patience. Granted, when I look at the list it doesn't seem to have made much progress since last Friday, what that means, I don't know.

However, reviewing still being on is very much a problem and one I think should be corrected ASAP.

I'll say this though, because of some unrelated technical difficulties, we put off recording this week's Foundry Roundtable until Friday night. We'd love to have some progress in this to report on :D

@frost, I think we got your missing costume thread pretty complete. Thanks for making that. Here's the direct link to that asset request thread that's been mentioned.

    Thanks drogyn.

Just to add the info here that I put in another thread, editing will be turned on. I do not have a time-table as to when.

Also, there were a number of projects which failed to initially republish and so a new republishing round will be run to give them a second chance.

Giving a second chance to have even more of our missions out there and broken is not really the best option.

I'd rather have my projects fail to publish so that I can investigate and fix them, rather than spend another week watching even more of my projects get one-stars.

At this point, I am happy that some of them haven't published.

And Foundry reviews? Will those be disabled? This needs to be turned off until the fixes for the current issues can be put in.
