Helping a Fed scientist with EC and/or gizmos

Hello, Feds, Klings and Rommies alike!

I'll be brief: I need your virtually financial OR ultra-high-tech aid in defeating Jem "bugs" and Cardie "lobsters". :P
Now, IF you will and can, please, aid me with some 100K of EC or... with some ultra-rare Fleet weapons and shields. For instance, I have that nagging... sub-sub-mission for level 42 / 43 - the one with the wormhole at DS9, "Shutdown" - and even though I installed my disruptor and plasma *very rare* beams - both fore and aft.. -, not to mention my *very rare* quantum and chroniton torps, I STILL can't get those "bugs" off my back in time! I mean, I struggled with some 20+ of such pesky crafts for more than 1 hour! And there's an equally large number of them waiting for me for the *final* part of the mission... No more. I can't take it anymore. :( But bare in mind that *I can* create a photonic flotilla with my "mirrored" scientific "wessel". :)
And should I speak of those Keldon-class "lobsters" which can create equally powerful photonic flotillas? I believe it'd be pointless since they too kick my behind each time they get the chance... With my flotilla and all! So, the point is, dear players, that... I need help. I need *your* help with the EC and/or with some of those ultra-rare gizmos. I don't know, some AP beams, transphasic torps?... Something SPECIAL! :D

P.S. If you want to know where I'll be next, then I'll be at DS9 - at the Exchange, I guess... -, as Irini-Serena, but as soon as my Live folder updates with some 5 GBs of LoR. ^_^ And I'm betting my non-existent EC and dilithium that my Tribble progression *won't* be copied onto Holodeck!...

P.P.S. I'll write you down in a list with the sums I'd be owing to you. So, no worries, you'd get your EC *back*!

Thank you, in advance!

The Cardassian ships can be troublesome, but should not unbeatable especially if you are in a lvl 40+ sci vessel

    Jem-Bugs = Sensor Scan + Gravity Well
Galor & Keldon = Tyken's Rift & Subsystem Targeting, Gravity Well can help with Photonic Images

    What ship are you using?
    Admiral Jisil T'ror
    Admiral Sovak

(...) *I know* of them and *I use* them quite a lot. :) However, they still blow me to Sto'vo'kor every chance they get and I usually *limp* my way back to either DS9 or ESD, where's *a pain* to load the entire station / base! Anyway... :) I'm using a "mirrored" deep-space sci vessel, *I think*. :P

P.S. I tend to always forget their classifications and roles. But that doesn't mean I wouldn't know how to use them.

I didn't know that... Seven kinds of Hell... :) Anyway, I'm at the last part of the "Shutdown" mission for Starfleet, at level 42. So, you'd be giving the Jem Ha'dars those seven kinds. ;)

though I installed my disruptor and plasma *very rare* beams - both fore and aft.. -, not to mention my *very rare* quantum and chroniton torps,

    Well there's your problem.

Use ONE energy type on your beam weapons load your tactical console slots with the appropriate energy console. You should notice a drastic improvement in your firepower.

Also if you use scramble sensors on the baddies you'll find that they start to do your work for you. Follow up with a grav well and a spread of quantums and your problems should go away.

"One beam to find 'em, one console to bind 'em!" Is that what you're saying? :) I know this... It's just that I can't get a full match for each and every species' vessel and for their classes. As I said before, I don't have the EC. And plasma with disruptor beams,... I thought they'd work just fine together! And they do, but with some nagging blowing-the-player's-ship-to-smithereens sort of thing... on numerous occasions. :)

If you need the EC just run Tour the Universe a few times. Even the slowest boat out there can pick up 600k in an hour - enough to get your ship reasonably well-equipped with Mk.XI blue gear.

I tried even at Captain level, with the *purplest* of the purple as Hyper-Impulsors... No go. :( I only managed to gain some 50 - 100K. And that's one of my best of days! :)

Rainbow beams aren't your problem. They're A problem, but not a big enough one to account for your problems.

If you're invested into weapons skills, the difference of rainbow beams can be as little as 3% per console, and you're in a science vessel, so your damage isn't outstanding to begin with, that's 3% of not a whole lot.

For a science vessel, "more damage" is not the best solution to "poor suvivability."

Brdige officer skills are likely the real issue, not countering key enemy powers, bad timing (sitting with EPtS off cooldown but not active), etc.

Having bad shields could also be an issue - regenerative shields are a trap a lot of people fall into. They're good if you're doing most of your tanking on the hull, but science vessels don't have much hull to do that, so covariants or resilients are better options.

Really your whole build could use some scrutiny by some of the experienced players, there's a lot of things you could be doing wrong, but staring with your bridge officers and shields might be enough to get you through missions at least.

The "boffs"... Well, they're maxed-out in skills. :) My own skills, on the other hand, have much to go. I'm halfway thru. :) And I can't 're-spec' them because I can't buy any special permit for it because... I have no possibility of *buying* Zen or anything else, for that matter. As for the ship shielding, yes, I know. I don't use regeneratives; I only buy and use resilient and covariants. Well, not always, that's true... Maybe that's my major issue causing the nagging implosions. Anyway, thank you for the critique... I should understand by all of these replies that you are NOT going to lend a stranger some 'money' like EC with the promise of getting them *back*. Interesting... Then again, *I* proceed completely different with those who need *my* help in such a matter. IF I can, of course. But that's me. :)

You're doing it wrong. If you focus on the smallest blocks of territory (Klingon Space/Eta Eridani sector block, Deferi Space/Orellius sector block, Borg Space/Gamma Orionis sector block and Undine Space/Pelia sector) and are clever about how you get to and move through them, you can easily rack up 200k in 20min whatever level you are and gear you have.

Oh, and the only impulse engines that affect your warp speeds are the ones you pick up from the Omega Rep system.
The "boffs"... Well, they're maxed-out in skills.
What specific skills do they have, though? It's not helpful if your bridge officer is maxed in some useless ability. You can change the skills on your BOffs for a very small EC fee at the Bridge Officer Trainer (next to sick bay on ESD, or in the barracks on Qo'noS) and if your skills are at the right level you can train them in level III career-specific abilities as well.
My own skills, on the other hand, have much to go. I'm halfway thru. And I can't 're-spec' them because I can't buy any special permit for it because... I have no possibility of *buying* Zen or anything else, for that matter.
You can exchange dilithium for zen.

Will you, 'mods'?! I've had enough. And, by the way, I have NO dilithium to buy Zen and stuff!
