Me: "I hear I am up for a promotion. -Again?"
Commander: "That is true, and You'll be given a D'eridex to command!"
Me: "uhm, why? I have just kicked Tal Shiar ar*e, and doing some serious battling with the Elachi. -A d'eridex?"
Commander: Yes. The New Romulan Strategic Command realise the importance of supporting your combat proficiency against this alien threat that makes the Borg and Undines look like Epooh pups fighting a bowl of milk."
Me: "I see... ...so the harbinger of the Borg, the nemesis of the undine, and Discoverer of New Romulus will fight said Elachis with a barge with a lower turnrate than a planet circling a sun?. Will You at least give me some powerful weapons to fight these unknown hostiles?"
Commander: "We believe your ability to scavenge for used assets is remarkable, You'll manage with these Mk VI plasma beams for now."
Me: "Mmkay. can I be given some provisions. I really could need repairkits for the ship, minor, major and critical ones. Alot of them. Also a lot of healing kits for my crew."
Commander: "No."
Me: "Ok, I'll go out and crush our enemies. I hope I won't be ignored when I get back?"
Commander: "Hm? Say something? You are dismissed, go on do your stuff. I have urgent business counting Romulan marks to be shared out to our allied Klingon and Federal friends."
Me: "Say what? Klingons? Friends?"
Commander: "Of course. They are making us do push-ups, they're tagging Epoohs and taking water-samples. the least we can do is to give them some purple MkXII Engines, shields, deflectors and some nice prototype MkXII plasmaweapons and torpedos."
Me: "Thank You Commander. You do know how to make a survivor of an exploded planet feel appreciated."
Commander: "You are welcome."
Me: "I see... ...so the harbinger of the Borg, the nemesis of the undine, and Discoverer of New Romulus will fight said Elachis with a barge with a lower turnrate than a planet circling a sun?.
The D'Deridex is a warbird-cruiser. So yeah, it's doesn't turn like a Defiant Retro.
Also; Don't quit your day job.
You're just a machine. And machines can be broken.
No. No part 2 coming up.
Just been through a lot of Tribble-play lately, and being used to running a single character only for 2700+ hours makes running a new rommie from scratch a Little bit surreal. What cryptic has made is really well done stuff, but there are sublime absurdities here and there.
Hence, I scribbled Down a Little rant-story.
I was hoping romulan reputation would start earlier, but you couldn't use any rewards till the appropriate level. That way you at least felt like you were earning a reputation with your own people.
"..and like children playing after sunset, we were surrounded by darkness." -Ruri Hoshino
Following the storyline is much more fun if one doesn't go overboard with OP tools.
trying to play it with what you're given, makes me appreciate every detail.
Thundering in there with purple sets and so on, kind of takes the pleasure away, you know.
Having to use a braincell or two to outmanouver your enemy actually feels good.
Using a Little Sun Tzu in Space has never harmed anyone, but your enemy.

I agree. I could really need some support, of some sort, to start mowing Down those Elachi's. They are a tough bunch and not being able to start the rep-chains before you are level 50 kinda leaves some vacuum. -since you'll be way down in the thirties-levels for these stubborn Fellows.
So technically, without Falling for the temptation of opening lockboxes, or gathering tools any other way, You'll have to float around in Space doing Experience runs other ways.
I guess it is normal to fight the doom of all galaxies for a couple of days, then go off to do doffing for a week, before you go pick a fight again. It is funny how the enemah will wait for you...
One bit to hope on, is that the Rebuilding of New Romulus by players doesn't happen until after the Romulan storyline is complete [in fact, it doesn't happen until 2800 is complete]. Now, asymmetric timeline is frustrating but also part of the groan of a MMO.

Besides, the allies still have to pay Dilithium to get their gear from the Rep store .

All im saying is if you can't do the job with what the republic offers replace it
For example we are issuing "preload" gear to members of our new romulan fleet
nothing massive just body armour , shields and kits (Mk II)

True, and for a player joining STO after LoR has been introduced, they will not experience this assymetric timeline we are experiencing atm. for us it is 'confusing' since New Romulus shouldn't be introduced for FED/KDF yet. -Until after the 21. Then all will be normal, the temporal distortion will then be corrected.

Of course I will replace gear. It was just a observation. A 'In character'-thing if you will.
If you were floating around in the oceans on a aircraft carrier or whatever, you couldn't just take a break from a war, go to a country, stack up on gear that is better than you already have, even shoot them to bits to get to them, then go back to the original war a few days later, eyh? lol
Captain! There's a a cruiseship on starboard side! We've gotz us some credits! maybe a new engine! [Example]

Yeah I was hoping that for Romulans you would slowly build up the rep over the course of the story line so that by the time you hit 50 you would at least have lvl one Romulan rep.

Hannibal "BA all we have is a type f shuttle some scrap metal and a pile of tribbles!"
BA "I pity the fool "
Hannibal "well thats helpful"
exactly 5 minutes later a Tribble shoots out of the shuttle at a sizeable % of the speed of sound and destroys the borg cube
Hannibal "I love it when a plan comes together"
EPIC WIN for the A-Team Reference!
