Abrams Anyone?

I saw Into Darkness last night and loved every second of it. Such a clever way to do everything, and of course the special effects and cinematography were mind blowing! I know this has probably been asked several times, but who would want a JJ Abrams skinned Constitution class? Call me a traitor for going off canon if you want, but I think the new Enterprise is sexy, the organic nacelles especially. I'd love to see it and fly it in game. Obviously Cryptic (or whoever is running this crackshow nowadays) would have to get Paramount to sign off and everything, but I think it would be awesome! Anyone else?

Not too worried about having that skin as I am happy with the old Connie and the Exeter, but I really would like that bridge!

loved the film too, but for one, it will not happen since those films belong to paramount and cryptic only has the rights for CBS's part of star trek, which is essentially all tv shows.

and personally i wouldn't want jj trek in STO, because it is so much different than the trek you see in sto.
The game that came out before the film was a mass effect clone, which wasn't very good...but i'd love to see future games set in that "jj-verse" of trek.

so, i say leave it out of STO...give them a game of their own. preferably one that has more in store than the last one.

You are right, there are tons of reasons to have that abomination in game. You could even say, megatons of reasons.

Torpedo: High Yield III with quantum torpedos,
Torpedo: High Yield III with tricobalt devices,
Torpedo: High Yield III with Omega torpedo launcher,
Torpedo: High Yield III with hyperplasma torpedo launcher,
    Hargh'peng torpedoes....

In short: That ship is ugly as sin and the movies it is featured in are a crime against Star Trek.

Please. That ship is no more an abomination then the Scimitar was as a foe. And I consider all the TNG movies to be crimes against Star Trek. :)

Either way Abrams' stuff isn't within the scope of Cryptic's license.
STO is about my Liberated Borg Federation Captain with his Breen 1st Officer, Jem'Hadar Tactical Officer, Liberated Borg Engineering Officer, Android Ops Officer, Photonic Science Officer, Gorn Science Officer, and Reman Medical Officer jumping into their Jem'Hadar Carrier and flying off to do missions for the new Romulan Empire. But for some players allowing a T5 Connie to be used breaks the canon in the game.

Yes, they were!!!!!..... if you consider constant lens flaring to be mind blowing.

Into Darkness doesn't have the lens flares you're talking about. The movie is much much darker. The ship fights a dark hulled dreadnaught. It's dark. Set against a dark background. With a dark storyline. Darkitty dark as we plunge into darkness.

Lens flares are so 2009. Get with the program.

    Hmm, I don't know.

The Exeter class already features a lot of similiarities to Abrams' reimagined Constitution so I don't think that we really need the JJ Connie in the game.

I would however love to have a playable ship akin to Admiral Marcus' Dreadnought. While it may be true that it's dark colour and rugged appereance are really close to most of Cryptic's own ship designs these are all missing one important thing: hollowed out saucer sections.

For a time there were a few of these around in STO, either as Eaves' concept drawings or 3d models which were showed off in the very first promotional trailers but which were then never seen again . . . :(

This Dreadnought also has a lot of other interesting small details, like the Deflector Dish, which is shaped like the Yamato's Wave-Motion-Gun muzzle or the fact that the damn thing has balls. Detachable, Phaser spitting balls no less!

(It's quite funny actually, because it seems that it's always the villains who get the cool
    and exotic gear nowadays )
C'mon Cryptic, the Typhoon Battleship is the most aggressive and badass looking ship in the entire Starfleet. How could it not be playable!?
And don't forget about the Jupiter and the Balaur and every other awesome NPC ship that absolutely deserves to be playable!
C'mon Cryptic, we know you can do it!
