And the fact that majority of people on Tribble have the mindset that it's a test drive rather than beta testing. People want to try something so if they know if they want to buy it, rather than actually test it to see if it's bugged.

Thats rather shortminded people. I aint buying **** before i can test and see if its worth over a hundred dollars.

Then you are free to wait until the sale is over and you can pay full price. Your decision not to buy the stuff when it's on sale isn't hurting Cryptic one bit. They are going to make more money off of people that chose to pass on the sale than they did on those that took advantage of it.
Even if the people that pass on the LoR pack cherry pick what they actually want and spend less individually, they'll collectively spend more money than the few that bought the pre-order.
True. But for one who cares alot for balance and offcourse pvp, not being able to test these ships is terrible. Its just poor form from the devs to be so shortsighted.

Unfortunatley my wife wanted a new nissan pathfinder which means no legacy pack for me.

That pretty much covers the point. Although I agree you should be able to test drive, problem is that's what everyone will be doing. Playing with new stuff rather than bug testing it.
Who knows, if people got to try before they buy they might decide not to buy a ship cause they suddenly realise they are about to waste money? Nah doubt that would happen......

True. But how do they want us to discover bugs or errors if they not let us test all avaible stuff in the game? HALF the ships isnt being tested and in essence, HALF the ships not tested might have bugs and errors.
Its SO typical that money gets ahead of fixing bugs, or let us players/testers find said bugs and errors cause they are so busy filling their pockets.
Pisses me off everytime i try to enjoy this game and pvp, when TRIBBLE bugs and errors in regards to abilties scaling etc is fracked up. It happens ALL the time and too often.

The ships don't really need testing, though. There are no new mechanics at work, just extra console slots and slightly different stats.
The Singularity abilities for Romulans are a new mechanic, and would need testing, but Retrofit and Fleet ships versions are just the same ship with more equipment slots and upgraded stats -- literally, just different numbers. It's not something that really needs to be thoroughly tested.
Such is obviously not the case for new ships, like the Steamrunner and Andorian ships, that rolled out onto Holodeck with issues. New ships do need to be tested. Retrofits and Fleet versions are just numerical changes to existing ships that can already be played on Tribble.

But thats the point alltogether! If the ship has more of something, that needs more testing to see if the ship is warranted that much extras, or if there should be changes due to being OP. Its called balancing, something alot of players are VERY concerned about. Consider too that several romulan ships got their BOFF and console layout altered, argues for yet a reason for players to test them out before they hit the live servers.
Its foolish and naiv not to, as the history of this game is all the proof I need.

This is true when it comes to some ships like the Andorian escort, wich had quite a few bugs that coud most likely have been found if we were allowed to test it.
It does irk me that we can't test any ships except the ones we get through leveling. I would have loved to try out the +1 versions of the ships. I know it's mostly looks/stats plus 1 special console, but do these not need any testing Cryptic??
I bet that most of the C-Store ships and the retro ships will have some bugs one way or the other, wich most likely we can help squash, but since Cryptic insists on testing C-Store ships on the Holo server, there's nothing we can do about it, wich is sad IMHO.
But it is what it is in the end. Would I like to test them?? You bet. Will I get to test them?? Not very likely, if at all, or if Cryptic feels like it, and let's us play with the new shiny ships...
two gentlemen above pretty much say it all.. on one hand since the coding of the consoles is individual to the console, they can be tested on other ships so theres no need there.. As for the ships themselves, all we "see" is a visual model. The dynamics and mechanics for any given ship will be exactly equal to its counterpart store bought ship.
Although i believe the expresed concerns are valid, i also understand that theres really no reason to test out the new z-store ships because they are the same as the free ships with few differences beyond appearance.. I too would like to test fly my new valdore ( yes, i bought the legacy pack ) but, its unneccessary here on tribble.. Besides, there is no connection between tribble and holodeck, and i dont think Cryptic would want to even get close to that can of worms, so it is highly unlikely that we'll ever see those new ships here.
People forget tribble is for testing and bug finding not trying out the new shinys so they can decide to buy or not.
You should try the Champions Online test server. It's very customizable. Let's you test pretty much anything. Level up. Level down. Get gear. Zoom zoom zoom.

What Cryptic should consider before releasing anything.

Because TSI would exploit them prematurely, no no no!!!
