textures in all areas are suffering from half resolution style problems, they randomly switch between full resolution/high detail to low resolution/very low detail changing video settings does not affect this issue
The "viewing distance" seems way way off at times.
You can see the new textures loading. Doesnt look like you are getting closer/farther but simply a new texture flashes in.
Some things seem to have the bump maps set to high and gives things a "rough" appearence. Sometimes I feel like I am in a medieval game rather than Future/Outerspace and everything is made out of stone
Some special effects seem very degraded as well - most glaring example has been Feedback pulse.
Contrast seems way off at times.
Everything looks dirty and rundown. Seems we are in Christopher Nolen's darker, gritter Star Trek.
The Wall panels on Brea are a good example of what is wrong with the textures and viewing distance.
some effects such as the singularity explosion are suffering from low resolution and appear as a glowing green sphere instead of the blast wave style. beam, torpedo and cannon effects appear to be fine though.

Many planets are fairly pixalated.
