Hey hey
With the 1 year anniversary of PESTF coming up and the launch of LOR only around the corner ( I want my fleet Dhelan and Ha'feh) I thought Id say what up. In the 11 months since PESTF started we have grown to over 3700+ members and the channel is currently the #1 most active online userbase STF channel in game!
When i started this ball rolling last year I never thought we'd grow so well and so quickly considering other more established stf channels.
So it is with great thanks and appreciation to all those on channel over the last while have made the channel and STF community what it is today!
I also have to thank DOFFJOBS and OPVP for not silencing me when we first started up and the guys over at STOWIKI for adding us to the channel listings.
From the outset we've tried to keep things fun and simple on channel. We dont have a lot of rules and the ones we do are fairly common sense stuff to avoid agro and trouble on channel which we can all agree is no fun for anybody. Once games are running feel free to chat away, but we only ask that longer in depth conversations be taken to team or pm.

Thankfully people have embraced this and we rarely have any trouble, in fact we have had very little need considering our large player base to pull people up, except for the rare occasion.
Overall we provide quality groups and optionals and you're more then welcome to find groups for other events also, such as Romulan, Fleet or the Tholian Rep Missions (cant wait)
As mentioned in the rules though, we do ask that people that come on channel have a knowledge of the missions before joining groups. That said feel free to ask on channel if you're a little lost but in general we all prefer if guys might find out such info or get training in fleet before coming on channel. Check out the channel info links above and below in my Sig for all the info you need for STF's, and these forums hold a wealth of info on other missions so there's little excuse not be informed.
Those on channel will already know we have good quality games running around the clock and we like to keep it that way.
While we have moderators in place to deal with any issues that may pop up, we must also thank the channel as a whole for playing a part in moderating the channel and reporting any issues to the admins at times when we might be unavailable.

Oh no more admins! Thankfully 99% of you will never have to deal with our admins so its all good. I'm also glad to be in the position that its better to have them and not need them then need them and not have them, so again I thank the Channel Ops for taking the time to help run the place.
With LOR around the corner we look forward to seeing everyone on channel in their new fancah Rommie Ships, us included! Exciting times all round!!

It warrants mentioning that it's good to see the community have one quality go-to channel for all PvE queued "teamwork" based content, rather then splitting it across multiple channels.

That's what we like to hear! The odd bad game is just a fact of life as with any channel. Once they stay in the small minority. Hence why we encourage guys to read the tips and have knowledge of the missions before coming on channel or joining groups.

Very true, we've seen many events channels come and go to the way side such as fleetevent etc, especially as private channels, getting the numbers to have regular games running is difficult. Plus most people pug these others events as they do not require the same teamwork to complete most times or dont require as much strategy.
But we still love these events, so we made the call that theres no reason people cant find groups for these missions if they choose. Even when running missions with fleet guys theres can be a spot or two needs filling in a private match so its great to be able to pull a guy up for it from PESTF and know you're not gunna get AFK'd with a pug.
And who doesnt love running a 20 man starbase defense with guys you might regularly pew with?! I actually wanna see more of these on channel. Granted for the reasons mentioned above majority of our games will still be STFS but even when guys are running other missions on channel, STF's calls will and DO still run like clock work. So I dont see any logically reason to have a seperate channel.
I tried for months even before I started PESTF to get RedAlert guys and the big sub base they have to come around the idea of opening the channel up to EVENTS as an EVENTS channel but alas (and some mutings later....) some people like the piece and quite and just calling RA's. Each to their own and thats not talking ill of RA btw i know some of the nicer admins agree with me on this (hence my unmutings). So that left no place to find groups for other events that fall outside of alot of STF's channel's remits.
WE have the numbers so make use of it as a one stop shop resource for dil, omega/rommie/fleet and tholian marks!
If it moves you can kill it on PESTF....

lately, like the last month or so, the channel seems inundated with players who are "learning" or others that are putting people through "training". As the creator said politely, this isn't really the place to do that.
No one is being "l33t" saying that as it's more a courtesy to everyone else. People use PESTF to grind out stfs in a fast, efficient manner with other skilled players. That doesn't really work when you have to explain to people what "mrrmll" vs. "rml" means...or "10%" (for those that do that).
There are tons of ways to run stfs and this was supposed to be the place where you put what you've learned to use, not a place where you're learning what to use.
As anyone who has played with me knows, I will teach anybody anything anytime...we're just not going to do it at the expense of other players who just want to quickly run an stf. It wouldn't be fair to the other teammates.
I think if I joined channel how and found out how easy it is compared to random pugs I'd hate myself
Completely agree. I am of the strong opinion that guys shouldnt be on channel unless they know what they're doing. As a public channel though (and always will be) theres no way to stop people joining or have some kind of test ( would be a nightmare to implement anyways) before guys come on channel.
thankfully again guys completely lost are in the minority, I know this from my own experience on channel and the fact that the channel isnt awash with guys calling each other noobs after dodgy matches..... this tells me and from regular feedback that most games 80-90% run without a hitch, IGE is always gunna be a trouble maker though... maybe 70-80%
We do ask that you let guys know before joining any games if you're new to STF's or not. This is to at least give them the choice whether to run with you or not, rather then wasting time getting into a game to discover it the hard way.
People on channel are primarily here to GRIND and play games not show you how to play missions, it is purely out of their own goodness that they do and I applaud anyone who does. That said, people only have so much patience.... we're not elitist, but we do like things to run smoothly, doesnt have to be the fastest most expert run, but we dont want to be left hanging cause you've gimped the team... hard facts ....
As Lored2death has said, on occasion once you're straight with people you might even get training, but just riding in gun ho will more then likely get you reported and possibly striked if do so regularly. We see this as a form of trolling and are not big fans of it. Guys who repeatedly sabotage missions (on purpose or through lack of knowledge) will find themselves earning strikes under our strike policies and could find themselves muted on channel (never happened yet, but be warned) before their illustrious STF career even gets going....
While i havent seen alot of noob games myself, i might look into this more. eg. if guys are running a training game to announce it as such eg LFM- CSE - TRAINING in an effort to consolidate noobs into single games rather then tagging along on guys trying to run quicker games. But again I dont want to give guys the idea that they can learn on channel....
GET TRAINING IN FLEET! or at least study the guides and pretend to know what you're talking about when you come in game. :rolleyes:
LOL theres always time for more STF's.... and im sure with new Rom Toons or ALTS you might find PESTF very useful this time around.

If we are ... then it should be noted that a lot of peeps on this channel treat the emerging Neghvar & Raptor combos in CSE as if they are an optional objective to be engaged at their leisure ... and keep shooting at the non-threatening static probes .
Mean while if one or two players do engage the Neghvar , they have a much tougher time .
I feel your pain on this one, i always keep my alpha/sensor scan ready for the Neggie least we all get ISO'd to the FACE!
that said this is not limited to PESTF, this is all runs of CSE! on every channel! I have fleet runs occasionally with the same issue so its game wide unfortunately! IF IT MOVES KILL IT!
I'm very tempted to make that a channel rule.... IF IT MOVES KILL IT (In the right order of course...)
