    Its simple they did not want to to be a carbon copy with a slight buff of the Corsair retrofit.

    Gecko mentioned ages ago one of the managers/staff at Cryptic wanted to have a FDC with a more sci focus, that's why it's boff arrangement is different.

    Glad it happened, it's an enjoyable layout.
    Now if they'll just make the Fleet Marauder for the engy focused boffs
