Now i feel awful, im actually going to try suggest a way to bolster cruisers, when im normally the one says 'cruisers are not damage dealers.. no buff!'
But rather thana flat damage boost like adding two weapon slots or a hanger bay (lulz..)
I would like to suggest in a similar fashion to science ships getting level 1 of all target abilties, what would level one of all 'Aux to' abilities being innate?
e.g. Aux to sif/Dampeners/battery (plus DEM)
This would give cruisers an extra use and open more engineer slots.
Aux to SiF = Team support
Aux to Bat = Power level buff/usage with tech doffs
Aux to Damp = General defence, to prevent photonic shockwave alpha kills (etc)
DEM = Slap it with the cooldowns of Aux to, and offers extra dps to cruisers

Any thoughts? Am i crazy?

If a science ships gets a tactical power because of its awesome sensors..
Maybe a cruiser should get some science powers because of all the labs and such they are supposed to contain?
If not then to me it would make more sense to give it free EPT skills since they, like beam target skills are all on the same CD already.
