Starship NPC Groups scaling?

How do I get all members of a space npc group to appear in my foundry mission?

Example: When selecting NPC groups tab on a space map I can pick "Federation Squadron -Cruiser 02" and it's description in the lower right corner says "A federation squadron that is composed of a mix of Cruisers, Frigates, and eventually Battleships. Scales from 1 Cruiser up to 3 Cruisers, 2 Frigates and 2 Battleships Dimensions 1x1x1"

HOWEVER... when I play the map to test my space mission I only see a single ship in space. How do I get the six other ships in the squad to spawn?

    The other ones will only spawn if a team does the mission, depending on how many people are on the team.

    Ok thanks follow up question: Can I get more ships onto the map if instead of squadrons I pick single ships?

    A while back someone documented the scaling patterns of space groups. This will give you an idea of what will spawn when.

    Just remember that the number next to the NPC in the list. The lowest number is 1 and it goes in order from there.

    More ships on a map? For what purpose?

    Single ships are non-combat NPCs (they won't fight each other or even move; they're just meant to be used for contact purposes and such).
