Level increase would mean skill point increase... and really, that is enough. As well as the idea of being able to promote BOFF's to command your other ships.

I don't disagree. I don't exactly feel like these things are necessary, the game is already quite easy. However, those are enough to go along with a level cap increase imo. New equipment is not needed.
I'll sell you some weapons from New Romulus. Never fired, only dropped once.

Yeah, who needs new equipment when you can have BOFF's running ships whic have been mk12 purpled up to help you.... lol. Just encourages you to have more Mk12 purple **** in your collection.

I don't really see there being an introduction of another actual tier. It would undo all the work that's been made to make all the paid ships attractive. Higher marks of gear... is something that Cryptic is slowly backing themselves into the corner with all the reputation and fleet stuff as well.

Personally, all I'd really like to see is a skillpoint cap increase(not necessarily new skills to invest into) and the first officer ship idea(A boff can command one of your other ships/their own ship and come to your aid/go on missions).

There is no logic in introducing additional levels this late in the game. What is very likely to happen is Cryptic will introduce additional Ranks via the Reputation system, it's too obvious not to utilize the system for that.

Not even Dstalh is crazy enough to introduce a new item/ship tier making hundred of hours and items obsolete.

Personally I would rather they just knock everyone to Captain, have fleet owners be Fleet Admirals, and the Devs/GMs be Admirals. A skill point level increase so we can have more skill points for existing skills, the Boff commanded ship, and a revamp of ship boff layouts.

Other than medical ships and a few ships specifically designed around science, the vast majority of ships in ST are multi-purpose, however in STO they are very Tac,Sci,Eng restrictive because of Boff layouts. I would love to see the Boff layout system be revamped to all universal stations, but with a limit of two or three tac, sci, eng allowed.

This would really open up the possibilities and as we've seen some ships are mostly overlooked simply because of boff layout.

    OP

    NO TIER 6

But instead ... get rid of Rear Admiral / Va

and increase the distance between each rank!

And for the level rank "increase" at captain, you would have to choose to start a section 31 storyline, and never do a MACO / Omega storyline, or vica versa, meaning you would want more than one toon to get at the branch of content

and by choosing on of the above, you can get awesome passives/actives too!
Hopefully I'll come back from my break; this break is fun; I play intellectual games.

    I hope STO get's better ...

*I* play enough of an RTS mini-game with the DOff system. *I* don't need any more crew to frakkin micro-manage.

What *I* do bloody well damn need is more missions, in more quadrants, in more sectors, on more planets, doing them all with my primary SHIP CAPTAIN character before they get retired to some damn "whinery" on the forums.

*I* don't need to get any closer to some damn desk job! *I* don't want to be President, Chancellor, Praetor or any other job that takes my character off the bridge of their ship.

I don't want to be promoted out of my captains chair on my captains bridge to some damn desk job on some damn station. I want to stay in my captains chair and make a difference in the galaxy!

Tell ya what, give *ME* a mission that offers *ME* the chance to break the rules and get busted back down to Captain and sentenced back to the chair where *I* so rightfully belong. :)

I am so down with that. I never wanted to be an Admiral.
