So, from what I understand, STO doesn't have many Trek TV characters in STO as NPCs because they would have to pay royalties for the actors' likenesses. Well, I figured out a way to get around that
Cryptic can make a story about how some big enemy to the Federation is threatening both space and time, and thus heroes from different eras of the UFP have to come together to beat it. The cinematic shows the backs of all these TV characters looking at a console explaining the mission to them - but BLAMMO - the console explodes due to sabotage! All the characters have their faces horribly disfigured and for the rest of the featured episode wear masks!
Tada! No royalties to actors but you still get to use the TV characters! discuss!!

Let the stupid suffer
I think the "I want to fly a Battlestar, Cryptic should put one in" request may have been worse.
They did... see Vo'Quv
Neither the Vo'Quv, Kar'Fi or Atrox are Battlestars.
There was a thread explicitly asking for Cryptic to put a Galactica-type Battlestar (he may have wanted a Mercury class too), complete with Vipers, into STO.
Make it so!
Text boxes for the win!
They actually get some scriptwriters and some decent Voice Actors and make compelling new hero characters that make you forget all about Kirk and Picard et al.
Last thing this needs is a cheesy Generations theme to it.
Capt. Will Conquest of the U.S.S. Crusader
They had quite a problem with doing that as it was at launch in the form of children/grandchildren of numerous characters, or grown-up versions of child characters, and it was pretty clear around the time you meet Riker's transporter twin's illegitimate son that aside from Miral, who they gave an actual purpose connected with her original character, they were doing it just for the sake of doing it.
You mean I won't get my gun that shoots rickety bridges to take down old, washed up Federation captains?
The TNG cast and what they'er doing is mostly covered in the STO Novel.

Captain Shon is a numbskull. I'll never get behind him, and certainly not when his character progression is locked away in the Star Trek magazine I dont buy. I see Shon getting the big chair as nothing more than Andorians whinning for decades that the captain's seat of the Enterprise has been a humans only club so far. His promotion to that seat is nothing but lip service to the Andorians. His actions in the DS9 arc proved he's not worthy of that ship.
Capt. Will Conquest of the U.S.S. Crusader
Lets see...he effectively ends the Klingon/Federation War, unites the quadrant against the Borg, is instrumental in putting in motion a plan that ends the second Dominion War before it begins...
And that's not good enough for the big chair?
You could say the same thing about Sisko or Picard if you only watched 2 or 3 episodes of the first season of each series. They became great characters because we have 7 seasons of shows and had time to develop those characters. My point is that we do not need to bring back classic characters to have great stories. With a good team of writers we can develop the Shon character or another that can be as memorable as the characters from the TV shows and movies.

Why not Kang And Kor ?
(I suspect the rights would be easier to get)
Actually If they Bring in Janeway it should be so she can be Arrested
then they have to do that to every captain
system Lord Baal is dead
" Sisko, determined to prevent the destruction of further Cardassian colonies, detonated a trilithium resin device within the atmosphere of the Maquis colony on Solosos III, and threatened to perform the same action on every Maquis colony in the Demilitarized Zone."

I'm guessing that CBS would never agree to something like this even if Cryptic were crazy enough to ask. And insanity is not a legal defense if they were to get sued for it.

This is somewhere in the bottom 10, though...
I wish it was like this. It's odd that Naomi Wildman and Icheb are in game, I am not sure if the actors get royalties. Yes I know they were child actors but I am unsure if that matters.
Parallels: my second mission for Fed aligned Romulans.
Thats was our characters.
Cuz they died on DS9.
