Some Fed ships, maybe some base interiors and stuff. I'm currently at about 500MB from finishing the patch, but its really slow going so I doubt I'm going to have time to check it out tonight. I would really appreciate it, thank you.

LTS, here since...when did this game launch again?
It looks to me like the change is a contrast increase/photoshop sharpening of alpha channel textures (the textures that lights interact with). Nothing looks to have been redrawn. Some lights are paler or more colorized and brighter. Light hits objects more harshly. Doesn't show up that well in a screenshot. Just took several.
I don't think anything was redrawn. It looks to me like batch photoshop filters.
So if you've ever autosharpened a picture, it's like that. Except not the painted texture, the layer that light bounces off of. It's very subtle and mainly noticeable, I think, when moving.
When still, it just looks like darks are darker and brights are brighter, very slightly.
That's a pretty Big patch for just changing a slight variation on a texture, how ever I think they also messed with meshes as well as on my romulan her grenade belt *none rep related* has a mesh glitch where the grenades are not there true form, as in there very boxy now, where as before they weren't.
Hopefully there at the same time as updating the textures there also optimize the rendering engine/shaders/lighting, cause it can all use an over haul lolz.
I hope that shiny deflector, nacelle grille, and bussard collector texture isn't staying on ships like the Chimera-class. It doesn't look that great to be honest, and it makes the glows duller.
Good times, finally got done downloading Tribbles latest patch and load the game. I turn up all the graphics settings only to have the game crash with a notification that the game is rendering on Intel HD 4000 instead of my GTX 480 and when I try to get back in the launcher won't load and I read in the general discussion that the launcher just went down again
EDIT: FYI, I love the descriptions, but there is the old saying "a picture is worth a thousand words."

I checked on the textures yesterday and they are indeed sharper and updated.
However they look way TOO cripsy and sharp that I could make a screenshot of it, but since its a static image you will not notice the horrible shimmering on them unless you actually see it with your own eyes...

I'd also like to note that this shiny effect really doesn't work with the Galaxy/Nebula-class starships either. The deflector array looks pretty bad, as it looks like broken glass rather than this, and the glow from impulse engines and warp nacelles are greatly diminished. About the only nice thing about it is the look of the bussard collectors from the front.
I like that the warp nacelles seem more blue in colour than white, but the shininess of these elements makes the existing textures seem dirtier/muddier somehow.

Needs some work in my opinion...
The only thing for me that stood out where some effects were a bit nicer.
