OK I use a Kumari Khyzon Escort
My setup is
Fore
3X dual heavy plasma cannons
romulan hyper plasma torp (replaced the omega plasma one)
Kumari Phaserwing cannon
Aft:
Borg cutting beam
Plasma turret XII
Mk XI assimilated engines, deflector, and shields
engineering: Neutronium, Wing Cannon
Science: tachyon induction relay, assimilated module, field generator, zero point energy conduit
tac: pre fire chamber, 2X plasma infusers, Phaser dispersal array
I'm a tac officer
My main question is I just hit Tier 5 with Task force Omega, and was wondering which MK XII set I should get? Is the Maco Adapted set better then the Borg assimilated set?
I was looking at the set bonuses and noted the 3-piece looked kinda lack luster (IMO)
Also would I be better to run 3X plasma infusers instead of the pre-fire chamber?
If you're going with a plasma build, ditch the Wing Cannons and the gimmick console that goes with them, and replace with another plasma DHC and another Neutronium.
Ditch the Prefire Chamber and the Dispersal Array (with the Wing Cannons), and replace with two more Plasma Infusers.
General opinion on the sets from Omega is usually Assimilated Engine and Deflector along with the Adapted MACO Covariant shield. Foregoes the 3-piece bonus, but dramatically increases your survivability.

thx for the advice slapped 2 more plasma infusers on and saw a drastic difference in damage output.
also got the maco shield
looking at the MK XI to MK XII assim engine and deflector, I'm torn on spending that much dillithium to upgrade when the stats don't look like they would really effect my damage output

I've actually been thinking of swapping to phaser DHC's eventually so I can use the wing cannons again. I just started buying some, but that will be an eventually as I'm kinda broke.
I'll be honest I only picked the plasma as I had a few drop, and they were the cheapest things to get at the time. Prior to that I was running one of those infamous rainbow cruisers that when they opened fire looked like the box of lucky charms

Personally, I run my Kumari with the Andorian Phasers (and will be upgrading to the Fleet versions of them promptly). A lot of people will tell you that phasers aren't optimal for PvE, and they're right, but the difference in damage is incredibly minimal, and using phasers lets you strap the wing cannons and the consoles back on, which can be a boon. I'd recommend trying it - I like flying my Kumari that way, and it's certainly a solid enough setup.

heard the same thing about plasma, and how the DOT isn't that good as its damage is minimal.
The 2 phaser DHC's I picked up so far have the same damage as my plasma ones, but if I throw in the wing cannons in the estimate the damage output probably would be higher in the end. As I'm now broke I will have to wait a bit to get 2 more consoles, and another DHC to try it out.
