Theory crafting: Critical wayheyhey fun

As I'm bored at work I figured I could do some theory crafting on one of my current captains.

He's a Tactical and I've had him since launch. At the moment he's in a Chimera with stuff that just seemed a bit cool thrown on. Although I have done the basics (IE: All phaser consoles and weapons) I've not really developed him. recently I've been looking at getting him a Fleet ship.

So this led me to an idea. How much Crit can can I milk out of him?

The goal: Maximum Damage output Via Criticals.

So where do we start? Well my captain would be a good idea. Last time I looked he currently has a 9.something % chance of causing a crit and a 59.something severity bonus, as displayed on the ships attack tab. Not entirely sure how those translate though, what is base numbers Etc. The ship herself has a variety of weapon traits on her, but they're all phasers. So I don't believe the weapon traits are included in the attack tab numbers.

I do know I have a Assimilated Module module on the ship, and the Borg reputation critical powers. But I don't think I had any points in weapon Specialisation. the latter will of course have to change.

Now we move onto where else can I get Crit bonuses from?

Browsing the wiki I found these:

2% CritH and 25% CritD Eng Weapon spec
+0.76% CritH and +7.6% CritD Console - Tachyokinetic Converter
+1.8% CritH Zero-Point Energy Conduit
+0.92% CritH and +9.2% CritD Critical Assimilated Module

Giving us a +5.48% chance and a +41.8 Severity. Can anyone think of any more?

Obviously Anti-proton weapons are the way forward as well, I'm thinking [CritH]x3 would be the ideal weapon trait?

Obviously I won't be able to find the final numbers until I glue all these components together. But can anyone else shed any light on the subject? Maybe something I missed?

Thanks.

I run a Fleet Ambassador with 3 tactical boffs (two lieutenants, one ensign). Of course being in a Chimera, you can also use 3 tac boffs if you want to. Get the Romulan boffs from the embassy with the Romulan Operative trait. I have two with superior and one with basic, giving an extra 3.5% to criticals.

I use all the crit boosting consoles like you do. Also have the 3% crit bonus from reputation rewards and weapon specialisation is maxed. In total, my crit chance on all weapons before weapon modifiers is 14.4%. So one in seven shots.

Thanks that means my numbers are in the ball park as correct. I didn't know about The Romulan bridge officers though. Are we sure that's a space trait?

What can I say, I'm slow on the uptake. I wonder do they get the subterfuge trait as well?
If they do is there any point in employing any other BOFF ever again?

Only some(not all) of the Romulan tactical boffs have Romulan Operative. The others all have subterfuge which helps with cloaking. I suggest human eng and sci boffs for hull repair since you can't get Romulan boffs with the operative trait for those professions.

Also if you want to go with [crth]x3 weapons, try not to pvp with them. No accuracy means all the [crth] in the world will do nothing for you. I use the Romulan reputation [acc][crth] weapons because they also come with the resist debuff.

The new Fleet Advanced weps with ACC x2 and Crth X2 are very, very good weps. The will give you the Acc and Crth you need for your build. I run a all crit antiproton build with these weps and the Blue Romulan Boffs and the 3 universal consoles that boost crit on a Fleet Patrol escourt and it does wonders, I also did several respec's to get my skills just right for max crit chance. I like it more than my JHAS and Temp Destroyer and Andorian Tac Escourt. The Tanking ability and Boff layout on the Fleet Patrol is the best in the game (my opinion). Sure it does not have 5 Tac consoles but it makes up for it in Tanking and versitility.

Fleet Advanced weapons have [Acc]x2 [Dmg]x2, not crit.

Subterfuge also helps with defence. Hopefully though everything should be dead from Crits before they cause much damage.

But thanks for that tip off I shall look into those guys as well.
