Considering all the marketing & adds it would have been healthier for that game if half that marketing money spend would have been spend on the game development instead.
I doubt even double the game's budget would have been able to save it. Spending that money on marketing was probably the right thing to do from a business point of view. However from an ethical point of view...ah who cares about that.
Disliking the game has absolutely nothing to do with liking or disliking JJ Trek.
It's just a crappy, bug-laden, rushed-out game. It pretty much follows in the foot steps of almost every Trek game out there (granted, there are a few exceptions) . Drawing sales from the IP, featuring voiceovers from ST actors, bugged, bad support and usually a few years behind the competition technology-wise.

The reviewer in this threads movie pretty much had his mind made up before the review even started. Some of his comments about the game are even wrong just to support his bile at the JJ Universe.
The game isn't that bad. The reviews have been too unfair. Even Colonial Marines got a higher rating on Gamespot and that game is much more of a mess than this. They even critised the animations. The animations are fine, almost on the level of Mass Effect 2. It deserves a 5 or a 6 at least. It doesn't innovate the genre but if that's not what you're looking for then it's a fun cover shooter. It's linear but it didn't advertise itself being anything other than that. It reminds me a little of DS9 The Fallen actually. I only encountered a few bugs here and there, the main problem was the AI partner but that's doesn't matter if you're going to play coop. Also the ending is abrupt but apart from that I had a lot of fun with it.
Why not instead invest it in Star Trek Online and save introducing
Because, Paramount was involved in this one and they're not going to put money into a game cover the parts of Star Trek they don't own and probably have no interest in seeing as they went to the trouble to reboot it. Especially when their new blockbuster Trek film is coming out.
Not to mention that from the looks of thing they kind of seem to be developing JJtrek into some sort of multimedia franchise.

It's the only Trek left so like it or sulk about the old stuff.

What, that he should just get a PS3. At least thats what I get from that and his defiance review delay explanation.
I am intrigued by your plot proposal, but you need to include some kind of magic red liquid.
