So i was wondering if anyone has a good image of the B'Rotlh Birds-of-Prey and a good understanding of how it preforms compared to other Klingon fighters, and if it is worth using above others. also if anyone knows its general size, i would love to know.

From what I understand the elite scorpions outdo them (I have never used elite scorpions though.) But it might be different when people get elite bops.

so do they look similar to normal birds of prey then, just smaller?

The model is a reuse of the unreleased B'rel refit the D'Gavama, it's about the same size and similar profile, that more like the Koloth then the B'rel.

The thing about BOPs compared to other fighters is that they can cloak. Carriers do not come with a cloak, so this detail may seem unimportant. However, carriers may use Mask Energy Signature. What this means is that not only can you cloak your BOP pets and recall them to perform repeated attack runs from a specific angle, but you can cloak the carrier as well. It can lurk outside of sensor range this way directing the BOPs to perform surprise attacks and join them (or refrain from doing so, as well). It also means, if the carrier is fast enough (using, for example, a Impulse Capacitate Cell) it can disengage with its pets and cloak the entire fleet.

Rapid Fire II and High Yield II with Quantum torps is nothing to sneeze at either, espeically if the BOPs start their attack run from the same angle supported by a carrier to drop the shields of the target. It focuses a pretty high spike on a shield facing of the target (firing 4x rapid fire disruptor barrages and 4x high yield torpedo barrages plus whatever the carrier adds).

Also carriers come with built in target subsystem abilities (target shields for example), wich compliments nicely to the setup. Plus you can add to that a good capabilities for electronic warfare (Viral Matrix, Jam Sensors, Scramble Sensors), as well as abilities like Emergency Power to shields, Reverse Shield Polarity and high hull points and you also got some staying power.

Therefore, in my humble opinion, even if there are options for delivering more continous damage, this feature places BOP pets singlehandily and by a wide margin at the top of the carrier pet list.

Maybe you shouldn't. Personally i would take the Mirror Vo'quv wich is found remarkably cheap in the exchange for only 600k usually. No need to waste any dilitium or ship unlocks on the carrier either. The only thing you need to invest in is the B'Rotlh BOPs, but you can test it with the standart green BOPs first to see if you like it before doing that.

Its a very affordable ship by any means and probably among the easiest to obtain. There is no reason whatsoever to hold back from giving it at least a test ride.

In addition to that the mirror version exchanges a science boff station for an engineering station. It may be a little below the fleet version in therms of raw stats (and lacking the extra science console fleet ships are provided with) but i personally found a second engineering station much more useful than a second science station.

Whilst Jem Dread carriers (the most expensive option, around 80 million, not counting the bug ship needed for bug pets) are certainly impressive and bring more damage to the table (especially with bug "frigates" and their Directed Energy Modulation), the mirror Vo'quv doesn't need to fear the comparision because of its cloaking capabilities wich every other carrier lacks (only Vo'Quv carriers can launch cloaking BOPs and whilst other carriers can hide as well, it isn't quite the same if your fighters can't).

well that's good, i have a mirror vo'quv that i wanted to unbox. i would love the jem'hadar dreadnaught, but i have had no luck so far finding one i could afford or in lock boxes. i am not spending real money on keys, ill let someone else do that. but i digress, i am going to unlock my carrier and run her through her paces.

I believe you get a mirror skin for the B'Rotlh as well.

Well the better versions cost dilithium (see the vendor you get the 'regular' fighters from? The dilithium guy is just next to him).

If you're into PvE more than PvP, take a look at the Kar-fi + frigates (these launch trico-torps and mines).

As for the JH Dreadnought, you need to own the 'Bug' to unlock access to the high-end fighters, so it you're really serious into it, you need to buy the carrier and the escort (it's just below 500 mil EC atm...).

While you're at it, check out the Siphon drones too...

I have been using the Brolths for months and their performance is at the top. The Hyt Quantums are great at ripping up STF structures. The Brolths are durable and judicious use of recall means amazing alpha strikes.

I have the Mirror VoQuv on my sci and the standard on my eng. The build for my eng seems more survivable and better tanking. It uses EPtAux to reduce cool downs on the hangers so I can keep throwing out fresh pets with CRF and HYT instead of waiting for the pets individual CD.

That said. I also recently bought Adv Orion Slavers. The are working out well to.

I have the Kar-fi and the advanced version of its frigates, but I have been unimpresed by their performance. Their skills and equipment should make them prity nasty but it seems like their tricobalts dont actualy hit very hard.

I have a friend using a Vo with advanced BoPs who seems to be getting much larger damage numbers out of their quantoms. On paper it looks like the two types of pet should be roughly equivilent.

Can any one with both pets tell me their impression of how the two compare?
