I like to play all aspects of STO; PvE, STFs and PvP, but there's one thing that's really, REALLY irritating me: the Jem'Hadar bug ship.
When I play PvE I have a variety of ships, enemies and techniques to play against. When I play STFs I have a variety of ships, enemies and technique to play against. When I play PvP, nine times out of ten I'm on a team with four bugs playing against a team of five bugs (occasionally an Armitage will slip in there). I have no problem with having Dominion ships playable in the game (despite how much it really screws with the Trek feel of things); I can also live with Escorts being king of the hill (despite how much it screws with balance); I can even live with the bug ship being so over-powered it hurts, but what I can't live with is how that ruins PvP.
In STO when PvP is good, it's actually pretty fun, sometimes you win and sometimes you lose, it's all in good spirits. When PvP is bad, it's a bitter exercise in futility that's enough to put you off ever doing it again. I feel that whereas there are a proportion of players who just aren't interested in PvP, there are probably a great deal more who are intimidated by it, and whereas STO has done a very good job at making the game accessible to everybody with their free-to-play structure, there is very much a pay-to-win philosophy with PvP.
I suppose now that I've actually typed all that my whole post boils down to "game's alright, but PvP is hideously unbalanced"... how original :P

Pvp is getting a big update after the expansion, I won't be surprised if everything about it changes.

Honestly... The Bug does not scare me in PvP. I have have swatted so many bugs with other ships I should make a character called the Orkin Man.
What I am tired of is the illogic behind this ship and its counterparts. What you have in the Bug is a throw-away pathetic out-dated vessel that was never that impressive. The moment they figured out how to hurt these things and how to prevent them from blasting through their shields the Bugs were a joke. The best thing they could do was suicide ram an opponent. Now we are in the future and tech has improved and yet this pathetic Relic is supposed to be intimidating and so awesome? It hurts my head to try to understand the logic behind this.
The other Jemmy ships are not much better but at least the Dreadnaught (WHILE NEVER HAVING BEEN A CARRIER THANK YOU!) was pretty big and bad back in its day and worth caring about likely even now.
What I hate far more is the fact that we have Starfleet flying every ship except Starfleet vessels. We are all a bunch of freelancers and mercenaries. There is no real Starfleet that you are a part of in STO after all the contamination. I would be fine with it if they made that clear but they pretend to make you part of Starfleet. How about solve the Vice Admiral issue and this one all at the same time and make everyone just a gun for hire that happens to side with the Feds?

i believe it when i see it.
heck 1 new recycled space map with a few pvp spawnpoints thrown in would be HUGE for PvP already.
big updated probably only means that the queue is moved back out of the bermunda triangle menu that nobody ever clicks and under the minimap as button again ... trollololol

uhm yah... i believe it when i see it.
The Jem bug got the same sort of logic as the Defiant. Rework an old design to use more up to date tech. Presto! Combat worthy ship.
