like to see somebodys shields survive my tb3 + tractor + tet glider specd with flow caps... borg cubes crumble before my weapons start firing and drain anything left with tet glider... and this is a tac escort :)

Quoted for truth. The trinity has been broken for ages. There will be a time when cruiser captains and sci captains will be non existent and my parody signature will be fully realised.

Do the devs play anything but tacs in escorts?

Sure they do, the other alterantive of cruiser/destroyer/dreadnought BFAW!

the best shield drainer I have ever had was just a turret boat with tet-glider. Tractor beam shield drain supplemented this setup, but have you SEEN what 8 guns shooting fast can DO when each hit strips off like 400+ shields from all 4 faces??

So -- set gear that anyone can use is better than pretty much ALL the science shield drains combined.

Its better than tet weapons, even the best.

To steal from another tv show...
does that seem right to you?

The best shielddrainer ist an e-drainer. No energy left means no shields, weapons, defence and makes a nice target for singletarget or AoE (mob of spheres) anihilation.

But how much power are mobs running on shields these days? How much do you have to drain from shields to shut them off?

I think that hasnt changed since ages: default (50), only those with EPtS on bord have more (after using it).

So, if you can reliably stack power drains on a target that total 50 or more, you should be able to drop shields completely (assuming no engineering BOFFs at work) on mobs.

For some reason, I thought it was higher. I might need to reexamine my flow capacitors setup. I might be able to get 50 without polaron weapons.

I use tachyon beam primarily because its a short cooldown way to proc the radiation damage from the deteriorating secondary deflector. If you have some things in your build that boost radiation damage, its not a bad source of damage for a low level skill. Energy Siphon also procs that radiation damage though iirc.
