Before the Romulans were even unlocked for play on Tribble, the viewscreen graphic in space dialogue came along. I found it quite clever, making it look like the other individual is hailing you from afar and you're listening on your own bridge. However, when I see that even your bridge officers get the viewscreen graphic as well, I found that dumb. After all, those standing in your presence, supposedly, don't need to hail you and be put up on the main viewscreen. I simply think there needs to be some sort of recognition in there for characters supposedly standing right there with you, and have the non-viewscreen graphic show up for in-person dialogue that occurs while out in space.
I believe Cryptic has to go into all the old missions and redo the view screen which is why a lot of the new missions have the view screen set up perfectly with your crew talking to you from their chairs......same with the new KDF missions.
It seems to be something they're working on. In some missions my officer has spoken to me and was shown sitting in their chair on the bridge, rather than on the viewscreen. I've also done a ground mission where one of my officers hailed me via my tricorder, and was displayed on its screen.
