I think you'd have to implement the Genesis engine that could create settings randomly.
Yeah, but then David Marcus' protomatter solution would render all the planets you want to explore unstable, and sooner or later you'd get caught in the implosion...
anyways, did not someone point out that the locations are somewhat real (even though the planets arent)? As we explore, those numbered stars will eventually be given names.
