You know how you can hide your armor or kits in ground battles? I think if we have set items (especially shields) we should have an option of hiding those too. MY ship doesn't feel right without its design, but the best shields for my playing style are from a kit.
Edit: Or we should at least be able to just have the shields change the colors and not the patterns. I can't even recognize my ship as mine without the patterns.
