Sojourn-class Fleet Carrier Introduction:
With the every mounting danger that exists from the Klingon Imperial Navy's Carrier Command, the Federation called for the development and construction of a "pure" Federation Fleet Carrier. Turning to the Odyssey-class Cruiser, the Federation Starship Design Team applied some "minor" modifications to the hull frame to make room for the facilities that a carrier would need to operate an extended wing of Peregrine fighters. What came of this design is the Sojourd Fleet Carrier, a Fleet Carrier that owes a lot of its ancestry from the Odyssey Science Crusier, but also bolsters and increase in hull and shield strength. The Sojourn-class Fleet Carrier is equipped with the Federation's Quantum Warp Core (Universal Warp Core) that gives the Sojourn the power that is required to maintain a Quantum Slipstream for longer duration. Through the sure power of this Warp Core, the Sojourn has the capability to maintain a Quantum Slipstrem for 1 full minute. The Quantum Warp Core can be moved to other Federation starships. This Warp Core will increase that starship's ability to stay in a Quantum Slipstream for 50% longer (3 minutes for the Odyssey). The Quantum Warp Core gives the Sojourn a maximum Transwarp speed of Warp 15 while in Sector Space. When the Sojourn transits in to in-system space, the powerful Quantum Warp Core transfers power to sub-system to provide additional power (+10 to all sub-systems). The Sojourn-class Fleet Carrier can also be equipped with Aquarius Hanger pets. This gives it the ability to launch one Aquarius Destroyer per hanger slot for a total of 4 Aquarius Attack Ships.
Statistics: Crew: 3,500 Weapons: 3 Fore, 3 Aft Device Slots: 4 Bridge Officer Stations: 1 Lieutenant Tactical, 1 Commander Engineering, 1 Lieutenant Science, 1 Ensign Universal, 1 Lieutenant Commander Universal Console Modifications: 2 Tactical, 4 Engineering, 4 Science Hull Strength: 42,000 Base Turn Rate: 5 degrees per second Shield Modifier: 1.15 Impulse Modifier: 0.15 Maximum Warp: 9.996
+10 Power to Shields and Auxiliary
Carrier Commands and Subsystem Targeting
2 Hanger Bays
Peregrine Fighters *
Universal Quantum Warp Core
(*) Can be equipped with Aquarius Attack Ship hanger pets
Notes:
When compared to an Odyssey-class, the Sojourn-class is 15% larger in length which is mainly in the Stardrive section. This makes the entire starship about the length of a Jem-Hadasr Dreadnought Carrier. The Sojourn has 4 hanger doors one each side and a single hanger door on the front and rear of the starship. This allows the fleet carrier to conduct launching and landing operations at t he same time. When equipped with the Aquarius Destroyer minor cosmetic changes is very apparent. The side hanger doors is replaced with the docking collar for the destroyer.
That link is to a text file with the stars for the standard typhon, a fleet version, the special console, its default fighters (the valkyrie), and two other fighter types along with advanced and elite versions of all of them. Images are included for the Typhon herself, what the Typhon looks like in fortress mode (as well as a size comparison to a Sovereign-class cruiser), and pictures of all the fighters.
Notes: Yes, I am aware of the fact the the image for the gryphon says its a scarab and vise versa... the descriptions of the fighters from Memory Beta match the images and Ive matched them to the name of the fighter.
Gryphon looks like a Sabre. Scarab looks like a Defiant. No... they are not as large as those starships. They are fighter sized.
I played around with limiting the Typhon to only be allowed to mount turrets, as it only mounted Pulse phaser turrets in Invasion, but didnt go with that idea.
The carriers otherwise subpar (when compared to other larger 2 hangar bay carriers) stats (crew, hull, shielding, etc.) are balanced with its very large selection of fighters, 4 of which can only be mounted by the Typhon herself. This large selection of fighters allows the Typhon to fulfill a large variety of roles on the battlefield. The carriers comes with the Mk 1 Valkyrie fighters, and the Mk 2, Mk 3, Orca, Gryphon, and Scarab fighters may be purchased from the applicable store.
typhon, very much like the look of this ship. I would buy it in a second IF it came with 2 or more hanger bays. personally id like this:
1) 4 hanger bays with 15 km range (making this ship purely a carrier) with 3 fore or aft weapons with ONLY 2 turrets and a torp fore/aft
OR
2) 2 hanger bays with 2 beam arrays and a 180 degree torp fore/aft
for sure this should be able to launch defiants or the aquarius (1 bay would launch 2)

I'm sorry but a turn rate of ten not to mention tac cmdr? That thing is way op, even if you can only do torps and turrets. Throw a rcs or two on there and use plasma torps along with two wings of scorpions...you would cook anything alive.
Can't have a honest conversation because of a white knight with power
Merge the double hull and it would look much better. Also, as mentioned earlier, the Atrox needs a buff or overhaul. This ship would kill it and it costs real money.

The turn rate probably needs to be scaled back to 7 or 8, true, but it does pay for a higher turn rate by having a lower hull point total + shield modifier than the other Carriers. A Tac Cmdr seat on a two-hangar Carrier has precedent in the game already, so not worth complaining about. Overall, this is a really balanced ship for a fan write-up.
I love the looks of it, I love the fighters proposed for its hangars, and I would fly it in a heartbeat (and possibly nothing but it). The licensing would be an issue, I'm sure, but Cryptic needs to make an implementation of the Typhon similar to the proposed one in this thread happen.

I actually kind of like the look of the proposed new ship, but I think that's because I like the low-slung warp nacelles. I think Starfleet should have a Starfleet carrier - yes, there's the Atrox, but that's a ship from an allied government, not specifically a Starfleet ship.
I'd also like to see a Starfleet cruiser with the launch capabilities of the Armitage/Vesta.
Lastly, I'd like to see a "free" carrier for the F2P folks. It doesn't have to be as cool as the existing carriers, but give it something like 3 front/3 back/1 launch bay (6 Peregrines)/3+3+3 console slots, Lieutenant Eng/Sci/Tac slots, Commander and Ensign Universal slots. Call it a Patrol Carrier.
I will not go into the detail about what I was thinking when I saw the lower dorsal area, but let us just say, it is a very manly hull.
Overall I like the idea but I do not think we will get any Fed ships soon, as the Romulan faction is a bit short on choices (no carrier, no flag ship or destroyer. Most T5 are refits of lower tier hulls)
The Atrox needs a fleet version first off, and then maybe you could start to look at Fed "Heavy Carrier" but some will say including me, that the Atrox, fills the Fed Heavy Carrier slot, and the Escort carrier fills the light carrier slot. Not to mention the Vesta, which has a single launch bay.
I am a carrier player, with the Atrox, Vesta, and Escort in my ship slots. Give the Fed players a Fleet Atrox and then the problems are solved.

sorry, but I extremely dislike the look of this ship, the idea I like but it looks plain ugly.

An alternate version is listed a couple of pages earlier in the thread. Forcsomecreason, the OP was not updated.
