"If you already have, what did you think? #STO"
Honestly the level cap is not needed on such an event/stf mission. It would make more sense to allow such lower leveling players to join in as they do in the other stf's like star base 24.
The loot (if you wish to call it that) is vendor trash for ANY player who is level 50; it might have been cool for a player below level 50 if those players we're allowed to play that is.
Sometimes there are better loot's to win; if you get 1st place in the event.
It can be difficult to get when many of the players in the event are in a Cstore/Lockbox/Fleet ships or gears. However those same people in such ships or with such gears often have no idea what they are doing or what a TEAM is.
I think the dev's messed up because they left out the rest of the games players. Why they would do this I have not a clue, because the rewards are not that good.
However the outcome if you collect the shards would be gold to any player.
I personally wouldn't mind lower level players that want to work & level with other players for a chance to try for the better loot or take the green Mk X gear that you get with the 480 dil & 1 shard..... Not to mention lower level players need the chance to advance too.
My two cent's take em or leave em.

I'd argue a good number of these players do know what a team is. It just happens to be the case the new scoring system favors players who TRIBBLE over teammates and do anything but play as a team.

This could be due to the design of the scoring system players do not play as a team (I thought playing as a team was the whole point of STF's), however some of the players play as 1 entity themselves to score a place on the leader board & thus not as a team nor are they getting green Mk X gear as the team players are.
Still I think it's unfair to single out the players below level 50, which was my whole point. *shrug*

Anyways, my two cents: The Crystalline Entity Event to me was just too easy. Nothing like the Borg STFs, which can be difficult and more awarding. Let me break it down:
-First off, all you have to do fire at the entity, then get beyond 10 KMs when it's charging it's main shock wave, then go right back in when it's done firing and repeat the process. That's it. No optional what-so-ever, meaning no additional prizes or awards.
-Which leads to second - to me, it just feels like the Tholians are there just for show. They seem to have no purpose except slow you down. That's it. If there was an optional to the event, like take out all the Tholian ships within 15 mintues, then we have ourselves a better game in the event, and the stakes higher and have more awards than what's available.
-Third, the way the event plays seem like you don't need ANY team work what so ever. Heck, you can just go in and fight the entity solo, and just ignore the Tholians all together. It feels like there's no point in there being a team. I mean, sure two guys can take on the entity while the other three fight the Tholians, but if it's just that, it kinda feels way to easy and therefore no challenge. No communication.
Overall, I give this event a 2 out of 5 tops.

Only things I would change:
1) Better death animation. I know the CE is hugely complex, but its death isn't really spectacular enough for such a behemoth. That said, I'm sure the devs are prioritizing LoR and I'm grateful for that.
2) The music should be permanently set as the "Battle Group Omega" music. It just fits the event better, in my opinion.
"Critics who say that the optimistic utopia Star Trek depicted is now outmoded forget the cultural context that gave birth to it: Star Trek was not a manifestation of optimism when optimism was easy. Star Trek declared a hope for a future that nobody stuck in the present could believe in. For all our struggles today, we haven’t outgrown the need for stories like Star Trek. We need tales of optimism, of heroes, of courage and goodness now as much as we’ve ever needed them."

I can say with a sense of certainty that's exactly the case. For the multitudes of runs I've done thus far, not once have I placed while playing the encounter as intended or as part of the team. The handful of times I've placed was when I was being extraordinarily selfish and flat out ignoring the encounter mechanics.
The highest I've placed so far was the one CE run in which between pumping HYT salvoes, bio-neurals, and heavy tricobalts into the CE, ignoring everyone and everything else, was when I found one of the escort players who was certain to score high, rounded up a bunch of shards, and TBR'ed/PSW'ed the shards straight at that player to either destroy them outright or force them to back off.
That is seriously problematic, no matter how funny it is watching somebody with a Romulan Hyper-Plasma launcher atomize themselves care of a cloud of shards dumped in their face.
