TRIBBLE Maintenance and Release Notes - April 17, 2013

zer0niusrexzer0niusrex Member Posts: 0 Arc User
We will be bringing the Tribble server down for maintenance to apply a new update.
ST.30.20130416a.3

General:
  • The Dilithium Store is now selling Warp Cores to KDF characters.
  • Updated the mouseover help text for Warp Core and Singularity Core.
  • Singularity Cores will no longer drop with enhancements for powers that are gained above their equippable level.
  • The Earth Spacedock ship equipment vendor now sells Mk XI Shields, Engines and Deflectors.
  • Traits:
    • The damage bonus for Plasma Weapon Specialist was lower than intended and has been increased.
    • Plasma Weapon Specialist no longer grants its damage bonus in Space instead of on Ground.
    • Saurian and Andorian captains will now begin the game with the appropriate number of traits selected.
  • Already existing Klingon players can now play missions in the Empire tab of the journal.
  • Extra Crystal Shard items from the Crystalline Catastrophe event can now be discarded.
  • Resolved an issue that sometimes made weapons appear to stutter and cease firing at their targets, especially in shooter mode.

UI:
  • The reticle colors have been updated.
    • Consistently across all factions, allies are now blue, enemies are red.
    • Player allies/enemies are different shades of these colors.
      • Player allies are green-blue, player enemies are yellow-orange.
  • If you do not have a slot unlocked you can no longer progress in character creation.
  • Resolved an issue where the tailor would not display the character after creating a new character.
  • Updated the names of costume presets to eliminate the prefix.
  • The ground tailor now has a holodeck-themed background image.
  • The character's rank and species no longer overlap the Rename and Delete buttons on the character select page.
  • Players with customized HUD layouts will no longer have target windows and self-status windows that are much too large.

Known Issues:
  • The Klingon Mission Journal is currently being re-worked and some missions may not yet be available to existing Klingons.
  • Neither Klingons nor Romulans are available for new characters.
  • The C-store is disabled.
  • Traits cannot be changed or updated.
  • Players on Wine will need to use a workaround in order to play.

Still no word on EPtX abilities?

I guess its safe to assume its not going to change any time soon.

Shame. Was looking forward to LoR.

The Dilithium Store is now selling Warp and Singularity Cores to KDF characters.

So Singularity Cores aren't going to be unique for Romulans? Aw ... :(

Still, at least now we get to test some of the new KDF missions. :D

They are, but remember Romulans can side with either faction, it is probably for them.

Ah, I hadn't thought of that. Never mind. :D

Let's hope these Singularity Cores are only equippable on Romulan ships (of either faction). Would hate to start seeing Federation or Klingon ships with Singularity Cores.

the text for the Singularity cores specifically states that they can only be fitted to Warbirds....

don't forget that the two dilithium stores will need the singularity cores stocked so that the romulans can acquire them no matter which faction they ally with

Cant wait for the server to come back up again. I need to my characters deleted and Tranferred over to be current. Then I think I will be using and testing tribble for the most part. Hoping to see exactly what the Warp Cores really do.

Honestly, at this point the Tribble patch notes could just have at the top in big letters: "No Romulans, No 1-20 KDF" and people would just stop reading :P

We're barely a month away without any testing on these Romulan ships, balancing from thousands of monkeys banging on them, no bug testing for the missions.

    This will not end well.

This is making the foolish assumption that there is zero in house testing going on.

Yeah, could turn out a bit ugly...alot of people are going to be watching to see how it pans out...a new faction especially Romulans is kind of a big deal for the game.

    Two words: Romulan flamethrower.

    Two other words: Andorian escorts.

Four other words: Romulan Embassy Bridge Officers.

They do have a habit of getting "close enough" then sorting it out in a couple patches. Or a whole bunch. I understand working to a sechedule is very tough with this kind of game, but it has ruffled some people no doubt.

I can confirm that they are doing at least some internal testing already, and have been for a few weeks, I'm ingame friends with some devs and have seen at least Branflakes on a Rom toon on several occasions (he plays a Romulan tac named B'Randon, in case you were wondering)

I was in the tailor playing around with one of my Alien Boffs...couldn't change her nose at all. Also, you guys should put the rest of the Reman parts into the tailor, like the nose and the forehead. But that Reman complexion is incredible. But seriously. Noses.

Also please again I'm beggin ya, a way to minimize the face and hair select. It's WAY better than it was when it was first uploaded and I applaud that, but most of the time I'd just rather it wasn't there.

That is the big problem, their in house testing sucks. I still question if they do actually test stuff past it not making the server implode on loadup.
If it doesn't, it is good to go! ;)

Yeah that is good. That was the one thing that bugs me about the current holodeck KDF UI.

hey devs, a good deal of players, mostly pvpers i imagine, do not consider the EPt issue over or solved.

its current status is as completely unsatisfactory as the first change, and if you have read any feedback, especially mine, you would clearly be able to see why. do not consider this issue closed, it is completely unacceptable currently. i do very much hope the next change does away with cruiser ruining 10 second gaps completely. that would be acceptable.

if you think something is bad about 100% up time capability, or that its somehow not fun, or necessary, or over powered, YOU ARE WRONG

FYI, I was just on Tribble playing some of the low-level KDF missions (with a level 50 KDF copied from Holodeck, obviously). That's what the patch notes meant by "Empire tab" -- a bunch of the missions are there right now, albeit buggy. (One of them was unfinishable due to a missing floor, whoops. I filed a bug report. Glad they at least put that on Tribble before trying to publish it, because that would have been a disaster.)

Is it me, or is the sound especially glitchy in this build? Several sound effects no longer play. And in some (not all) maps where there's supposed to be music, the music no longer plays at all. I don't mean that it cuts out (like on Holodeck sometimes); I mean that it's... not there. (And yes, I checked my volume settings. I can still hear sound and music when it does play.)

Is this a thing other people are experiencing? 'Cause I'm kind of wondering if I'm missing some files or something (the launcher seemed to freeze and jump ahead a lot while I was patching Tribble).

Cryptic has said from the start that romulans wouldn't be on the test server until early May. I'm not sure why sto forum users have such a hard time figuring out how a calender works.

They can only be equipped on Romulan Warbirds -- Zero also fixed the incorrect patch note earlier this evening, if you recheck the OP :)

Eh... Season 6 went off pretty well with almost little to no KDF testing. Season 7 pretty much went pretty decent with the same regards. Minus the KDF STF costume and Tholian red alerts still broken it went okay compared to previous seasons.

One positive way of looking at this issue is there are going to be problems no matter how much testing is done but at the same time the element of surprise outweighs the problematic factor since there has been fewer problems with each new update.

Or is it I am just immune to the problems of glitches and bugs. Like one dev stated which I think is no longer with Cryptic the difference in content is that a lot of mmorpg companies will create something and sit on it for awhile but we get content pretty much as its been finished.

Edit: I might be biased though the thrill of having new bops to learn to use outweighs any forseeable problems :D I love my bird of preys and warbirds once I can get ahold of one :D

Already existing Klingon players can now play missions in the Empire tab of the journal.

Mission - House on Fire - space enemies at the beginning of the mission do not level up with you but the Romulan D'Deridex at the end does.

the missions in the Undine Advance still give Mk IX-X rewards but the The Collective gives proper ones hope this gets fix, been asking for proper rewards for some time now would like to see it done before the expansion

I cannot select the last mission in the empire tab "Assassination". The other ones, are GREAT!!!!!!! Keep up the good work!!!

Question though, will old KDF players have an option to play through the tutorial, or will we have to roll a new KDF to get the story?

I am about to go test tribble again, when I say the UI is too large I literally mean the part at the bottom of the screen with all our powers, the map, chat...everything is way too **** bulky it does NOT fit!!! So I'm going to check the changes and if it has not been fixed I will continue to voice my concerns loudly till it is! Even FTP players spend good money on this game, sometimes more then lifers do!

I think we players have earned the right to be heard!
