~~ Why your Charactor Class doesn't mean jack to your boff abilities
there, that makes more sense.
you should really try ground as both an engie and a tac. especially solo on defera invasion.
the damage my engie can do from behind a cover shield while it has 2 and occasionally 3 qm's deployed easily outshines my tac.
tacs on the ground are like engie cruisers in space
sure you might be able do do as well as the other, but its not as easy and its not so common.
What I love about my Engie Cat K'Fir, is when he deploys 4 Heavy Disruptor Turrets, and the 3 engineers on the away team deploy all three of their turrets, and then I have my Medic.
In PVEs it gets ridiculous lol.
On Mine Trap It's funny as heck watching the M113 guys or whatever they are called try to move on the position after I laid 4 HDTs down. It's hilarious, I don't even have to fire a shot.
But I will say though, in direct combat, to take a position, the Tacs do have it somewhat better.
Sci has it the best, with the plasma fields they can lay down, hypersonic attacks, etc.
I've found a team comprised of all scis (3 combat based sci's, 1 Medic Sci) you can clear any map quickly, and easily.
But in the ground combat, that really is the only tiem you'll really see any differences worth noting between the Eng, Tac, and Sci kits for the players.
But yeah, suppressive fire, plasma grenade, etc. A team of Tacs that are PLAYER run (PVP not PVE) the team with the most and medics (sci)w ill win over the team with the most engineers.
My artillery is called photon grenade.... and i can buff it... a lot..... and my heals are hypos + a healthy dose of running away..... while my summoned redshirts do the tanking....
On The Cure Applied (Elite) having 1 good Sci player can tank Armek allowing the team to safely and easily beat him to complete the mission. I once tanked and beat Armek solo just to try it and see if I can do it. I was successful on the first try with minor difficulty. Whenever I do a ground (Elite) missions I am always hoping for at least 1 sci to show up when I am playing as a Engineer or Tactical Officer.
A couple Engineers with Enemy Neutralization kit can make short work out of groups of Borg and can disable the weapons of Elite Tactical Drones and Bosses for a short time. Once I was on The Cure Applied (Elite) with nothing but Engineers and everyone placed mines and bombs killing Armek quickly and without any player deaths. If their is no healing Sci officers a single engineer with Fabrication Specialist kit can provide any healing that might be needed as well as having turrets & mortars providing some nice damage.
Tactical officers are the least fun on ground at least for me because of them being squishy compared to the others. I don't like having to run away when I am low on health and my hypo is on cooldown. Now a tactical officer with support of a Sci helping to keep him alive with Nanite health monitor is very fun. I have been in some all tac teams and their is usually more deaths then when their is a sci and engineer on the team.
