Roms can make their own Fleets, and only invite Roms if they want, but when they go to make Starbases they are limited to having Fed or KDF Starbases - based on their allegiance. So Fed Roms can invite Fed Roms to their Fleet, but they make a Fed Starbase.
STO is about my Liberated Borg Federation Captain with his Breen 1st Officer, Jem'Hadar Tactical Officer, Liberated Borg Engineering Officer, Android Ops Officer, Photonic Science Officer, Gorn Science Officer, and Reman Medical Officer jumping into their Jem'Hadar Carrier and flying off to do missions for the new Romulan Empire. But for some players allowing a T5 Connie to be used breaks the canon in the game.

All 3 Factions story lines converge in the late 30s to early 40s in the Cardassion sectors. At that point all 3 Factions will be allowed to do all the Cardassian Missions - and all the Missions after that through end-game.

Each Rom Tier ships should have an end-game version available. So if you want a TOS Rom BoP for end-game you can get it - probably C-Store or Fleet store.

Roms will have some unique DOFF Missions and can use the DOFF Missions of their allegiance.

Cryptic is looking at reducing prices to make Fleet-leveling easier, to benefit smaller Fleets.

I will listen to this later. Any word on whether the Federation/KDF will be able to fly Romulan cstore/Fleet ships?

Looking into making Fleet Alliances rather than increasing the Fleet membership limit of 500.

No direct word. They're still talking with CBS about how ships are, and can be, shared between Factions and they'll consider changes once they have more hard data after LoR comes out and people have played through it a bit.

I'm not in the "MUST HAVE T5 CONNIE" camp, but I mean really? If I can have a D7 T5 fleet ship at end game, and I can have a T5 TOS style Rom BoP at end game, then why can I not have a T5 fleet Exeter at end game? If we have to talk to CBS about this, then I say we do so, since Cryptic apparently won't or can't get the message across.

The "why can't I have X" was mentioned in the podcast. Dan said they plan to discuss it with us when the question comes up at launch. He didn't elaborate about it or about what the plan is. It will probably be in a Dev Blog at some point closer to May 21st.

Sorry, meant to say "have a D7 T5 fleet ship at end game." And haven't listened to the podcast yet, waiting to have more time.

Thanks for pulling out the soundbites though, very nice.

    I just have one question.

Will the Romulans get a cloaking carrier or flight deck cruiser?
Somebody getting uppity about canon? No problem! Just take a deep breath, and repeat after me:

In the Scimitars only on-screen appearance, it had a hanger full of scorpion fighters (that were never launched-might have saved Shinzon's bacon there at the end, but he was not exactly smart). It seems likely that the scimitar or a variant of it will have a hanger.

Good. I expected something like this. If the T5 Mogai is any good I will certainly buy one.

Another reason to go KDF ... not that I ever considered joining the Feds with my upcoming Romulan anyway ;)

They better hurry up with this.

How is this going to work? Ally with a high tier fleet and get access to all their unlocked stores?

They better drop this idea NOW. If this ever gets implemented there will be no reason to play anything but Feds.

Well, given the trend of C-store ships of late to have some kind of combat pet ability, I'm sure it will have at least one hangar bay. I should probably elaborate -- I'm hoping for something more akin to the Armitage-class, compared to the Atrox or Vo'quv. My dream ship here is agile, escort-level hull and shields with a focus on mobility and cloak for survival, three fore and three aft weapons with no dual cannons, two hangar bays. Give it a "fire on my mark" or "sensor analysis" like ability for buffing combat pet damage against your selected target, a 2/3/5 console allotment, and a Lt. tactical slot, Lt. and ensign engineering slots, and Lt. Cmdr. and Cmdr. science slots.

Great episode, all the important questions were asked IMO. I really get that this update is focusing on major story updates and I appreciate it. Once this groundwork is done, I'm sure we'll see FEs which progress the main story much more instead of self-contained tales like the Dominion or Breen series.

I cannot wait for May to come.

Btw: I've read or listened to pretty much all the dev interviews that were conducted during the last 14 months, and my experience honed spidey senses let me interpret Dan's response to the T5 connie thing as "Yes, it will finally come".

I got that vibe myself - that every Faction is going to get Fleet ships from all Tiers - but I am not going to read too much into it until we finally get a Blog about it. :)

Yeah. They're looking at a way to have Allied Fleets use larger Fleet's stores. It's not finalized yet, though.

This is currently possible if someone invites you to their starbase. You use your resources, but have access to their unlocks. The only exception being ships.

Haven't had an opportunity to listen to the podcast yet, but I'm disappointed that they'd rather make even more small fleets than increase the cap on ones that are pushing that 500 limit. If they could just make the 500 number be accounts instead of characters, that'd immediately fix the problem.

the tos bop will be usable end game? seriously? the more modern looking one from ENT thats in game is 1 thing, but that tos bop, no fricking way. at least the ktinga was used even til the dominion war, the connie and that tos bop, lol no.

im pretty sure those bops from ent were actually from the future, but the enterprise crew wouldn't have known. there should be some rom faction mission were you go back in time and brow beat the NX-01 till it withdraws. the ent bop in game suddenly makes sense!

Yeah, but think of it this way: you can put all your alts into a 2nd or 3rd Fleet and ally it with your main Fleet. Then all those alts have access to the resources of your main Fleet.

The issue is that we don't know what programming is involved to increase the number past 500. While it might be simple from our perspective it could be a major pain from theirs.

I am curious about the Cardassian Missions becoming agnostic. Granted, I knew it was coming from the Tribble leaks on the KDF side, but it still puzzles me.

Excluding the 2800. My understanding is more of the story missions (haven't done any of them yet) deal with the True Way. While this make sense from the Federation side, as They as suppose to be defending Cardassian space, I don't see the Klingon Empire caring about it one bit.

Even Mar'tok, who was pretty liberal as Klingons go, was not a fan of the Cardassians, and even told Sisko that the Klingons would not mourn the loss of all the Cardassians after the Dominion nuked Cardassia Prime.

I see the KDF more as a "Hey if the Cardassians want to kill each other off, let em. Less for us to worry about"

If you think about anything too much it never makes sense. It's Trek. You just take whatever the episode's writers give us - whether that's Spock's Brain or Darmok - and go with it. :)

    This is quite neat indeed.

I kind of prefer this, in a sense, to the alternative. I'd rather have less ships that stick closer to canon than Cryptic having to cook up like 30 new ships because "that other faction has a lot of ships and NUMBERS EQUAL WINNING". So thumbs up.

I think that would be tragic balancewise. It amazes me how cheap writing and production have kept an aged klingon design alive through 150+ years of ST canon, then between whining fedbears ,cryptics lack of imagination and CBS's greed will parlay another ancient and outdated starship back into canon relevancy, forgetting a T5 ship will likely overpower the ships designed to replace her.

I'm at a loss as to what depresses me more, reading these forums or clinging to a childhood memory of a Star trek that used to make sense.
