Noob friendly walktrough for fleet starbase and embassy?

I admit that for the whole time, I've played solo; so when the SB system was launched, I didn't care too much.
Now thou, I joined a fleet with one of my toons, and I have basically no idea of what I can actually do on the starbase and embassy, except contribute for the projects that someone already started (like donate dil, engineers, specific materials and so on).

I assume that the more I participate, the more fleet credits I gain, and once I have fleet credits I can buy stuff that is for sale on starbase....but how good is this stuff, compared to the one that you buy outside a fleet?

Also, how much time and effort you must put, to get one of the ships? And are these ships effectively better than the one on the C-store? Just to have an idea if it is even worth to try to get one, or if it is just better to stay with the one that I own already.

And last: I see that in the contribute tab, there are various projects, like "provisioning recruitment supplies", or "provision fleet ships" and so on....what are in fact these? Should I start these project?

Sorry for the many questions, but I was not able to find a clear and straight forward guide to what you can do with the starbase...as usual in mmorpg, you must ask and try, because god forbid that the devs would make an actual manual that explain things :) Not complaining but sometimes sucks to be the noob, and as much as the community here rocks, people gets tired to answer always the same things over and over; so I try to not bother anyone if I can.

Thanks in advance

Uhm - there is at least one Developer Post for this:

    But to answer Your questions:

Yes, Fleet weapons and equipment can be worth it. I propose visiting Your Fleet Starbase (either Transwarp directly to it and dock or head to Eta Eridani (below Sirius) and fly to it) - and have a look for Yourself. There are several equipment officers aboard towards the right from the transporter pad and You can take a lift to the operations area with the shipyard if memory serves - though You should be able to purchase (and look at) Fleet ships at any shipyard if You and Your Fleet have the neccessary supplies, credits and Fleet Ship Modules.
The same goes for Your Fleet Embassy, pay it a visit by flying to New Romulus in the Tau Dewa sector and have a look at what they are offering. The lift directly to the right of the entrance can be easily overlooked, by the way.

As to the Fleet versions of a starship - yes, they are better than their counterparts. They usually have 10 console slots (the current maximum) and 10% more shield capacity and hull strength.

If this is worth getting the fleet version once the fleet shipyard and the neccessary supplies are there - is Your decision as You will need Fleet Ship Modules in addition to the Fleet Credits and supplies. Note that You do need less Fleet Ship Modules if You already did purchase the Zen-Store version of that particular ship and that You can also buy FSMs on the Exchange for around 5 million credits atm.

Supplies are neccessary to make some equipment purchases in Your fleet stores.

That's to start! I strongly recommend clicking the various links as they may answer certain questions - like what is this project and should I start a project?

I don;t know of any guide, per se, because the topic - in my estimation - either does not or cannot be walked through the same way for each player/fleet.

    Good luck!

Why you dont ask your Fleetmates?
18 Cpt on the way to 60: 14 of them are already 50 or over 50, one is 60 and 3 almost 43

Also, how much time and effort you must put, to get one of the ships? And are these ships effectively better than the one on the C-store? Just to have an idea if it is even worth to try to get one, or if it is just better to stay with the one that I own already.

The ships are a notch better than anything you can buy from the shipvendor with dilithium or from the c-store. Usually* they have better hull, a slightly better shield mod, an additional console and a bit different boff setup than their 9-console counterparts, but din't come with the special consoles from the c-store. They are about en-par with those from the lockboxes.

*the upgraded low-tier ships (Nova, Sabre, Hope, K'tinga etc...) as well as the Aquarius being the exception here.

There are also a few other goodies you can only get from a fleet/embassy: more doff assignment slots, romulan boffs with unique space traits, highest tier of hangar pets, special science consoles (threat in-/ and decrease) or Mk.XII Antiproton space weapons (which are currently unobtainable otherwise).

The effort for a ship is relatively low. 4 Fleet modules (~5 mil on the exchange or 500 Zen each) + 20.000 Fleet credits (which amount to a turn-in of about 400 fleet marks or 20k dilithium).
