Mail System Death

aentaaenta Member Posts: 0 Arc User
ok i've been playing for more than a year now. and never really felt the need to delete the mail i have, mainly cause its all exchange messages saying contraband has sold.

however, i am now worried about the mail system because now i have SO MANY messages that it drops my FPS from 80 to 3 whenever i open it. and i dont feel like deleting it cause i cant spam the delete button.

is there a way to wipe the mail from it. or decrease lag, or make it so i can just spam the delete button?

plz help.

Not currently, no. When the forum upgrade happens, we should get the web interface to the ingame mail back; but there's no word on when that's coming. It's likely not soon.

Edit: now, you can make it easier to spam delete; drag windows around so that when the confirmation window comes up, the "ok" button is over the "delete" button, and then mouse-click your face off. This is how I buy things like doffs and torpedo launchers for fleet projects.

Or just use the spacebar to hit yes on the confirmation window, and then there's no need at all to even move your mouse cursor off the Delete button in the mail UI.

And when buying stuff like doffs or torpedo launchers, just hold down Ctrl when purchasing to skip the confirmation dialogue.

I use the exchange all the time too. I just delete the mails after I log in and read them.

What do you mean hold ctrl when purchasing to skip the confirm window, that doesn't do anything.

This trick does work, but it seems a little hit and miss. I have used it myself to purchase large quantities of items that only come in singles rather than stacks things that the other poster mentioned like Doffs and Torpedo launchers for Fleet projects.

Pro Tip: Pressing the space bar twice will select and then execute the OK button for the confirmation of deleting the email. Hold the mouse over the delete button and don't move it, click delete and press the space bar twice. Poof email gone, rinse repeat, click space space, click space space. Get in the rhythm, and you will destroy your inbox. It's funny when your rhythm gets thrown off because you look like an idiot jumping at the mailbox.

Or you could use the Insert key, and not be jumping like an idiot. ;)

I mean pretty much what I said. When buying items that give a confirmation box, such as duty officers from your fleet starbase or torpedoes, you can hold down Ctrl when clicking the Buy button to skip that confirmation window.

yeah i had the same problem. had probably over a thousand messages, and it was a pain to read or send any mail. couldn't wait for the forum upgrade, so i just did it. click space space, click space space, click space space... took several hours but it was worth it, mail is so much easier now.

My plan is to ignore it untill it crashes my client and then quit playing, almost looking forward to EVE.

Forum upgrade? More like forum restore. We had this ability before, and it's way better than the in-game mail interface.

For those that don't know what it was, we could access game mail from the website (here) and each message had a checkbox allowing you to delete messages en masse.

I sell a lot of stuff on the Exchange, plus I have 3 characters, so dealing with in-game mail is a painful process.

What are you exactly trying to buy and where? I just bought several hundred torpedo launchers doing it this way and it worked fine for me, not to mention deleting a couple dozen exchange mails.
