I usually select targets with the mouse but this guy was moving so fast - all over the place I just could not click on him - there must be a way to lock on without having to use a mouse hit.
Yeah and another thing worth doing is pinning your priority target.
Good luck with that one buddy!
----=====This is my opinion you don't have to listen and no one else has to read them these "OPINIONS" are based on my exploits and my learning other people will have their opinions and that's fine just don't knock my way of doing things thanks=====----
a eve online like window with all ships on the map in a list ( enemies in red or something like that) would make easier to sellect your targets...especially now after they released 1000000000000000 carriers with another 10^45x489 pets. That would also help in 10 vs 10 matches... (10 carriers vs 10 carriers can probably make the server pop  )
Thou that would not be that great because the game engine was not designed to support the amount of s*** spawned at the same time and it will render ships/plasma /theta invisible .
P.S.Bugs and BoP turn faster than the camera is able to follow the target. No option to improve that so ...yep this game is not designed for pvp violence
Heh. I wouldn't add an Eve-style target overview to STO. Such an overview would permit far better fire coordination among players. Judging by your community, this is something you don't want - soon, your "PVP" (heh HEH quotes) forums would be clogged with the tears of bears who got repeatedly insta-popped by a well focused group of foes that knows how to pick targets out of a group.
You can also click on a target's target to switch targets. I do this all the time -- click on a friendly damage dealer's target to assist him in getting the kill, or click on an enemy damage dealer's target to send heals and/or preemptive resists quickly. Helps if you move the "target of target" display somewhere more handy.

This already happens, even without voice communication. All it takes is a keybind that spams team chat with "Focus fire on >>> target <<<"

I believe there is a setting to make tab target the closest target... and you can also set it so it won't target pets and mines if you like.

Eh? Not everyone only plays against Klingons.

True, but I haven't seen it used that much. It's still worth doing it when you're not being targeted.
You can always pin your teammate, then do an 'assist.'
