Im pretty sure its been covered already but tbh Im too lazy to scroll 20 pages and necro a dead thread from yonks ago.
I'll apologise now if its been covered to absolute death.
Is there on the horizon or even in the synaptic pathways an idea to improve the PvP queue system?
In that I mean, simply 2 queues, 1 for premade, 1 for pug.
It would reduce the soul sucking waiting for 25-30 minutes to get a game on, only to find its a premade with good teamwork and tactics, good comms and more importantly practice between themselves.
Frankly, on the receiving end its not fun, its not even remotely entertaining, Im pretty sure its not all rosey for the other team either.
I dont see why to have a PvP in this game, you have to jump through hoops to join the boot camp just so you can have a chance.
Not everyone has a PvP element in their fleet.
Having been playing online games for a long long time, a lot of it in a clan. The one thing that was always noticed was how people left the server really quick when it was stacked against them (ie lots of the resident clan on one team), so much so, my clan had to make a rule that clan members had to divide equally to keep the server traffic up.
The same goes for this game too.
PvP in all honesty is a joke in this game, no balance at all (for ANY game with a PvP content involved, it has to have some form of balance), which anyone with an iota of intelligence or knowledge should realise, it doesnt make for a great experience.
Two separate queues would certainly level it out a little more, the premades get a challenge and the pugs can learn or even dare I say it, have a good battle.
3 or more players joining as a team should be allocated a premade slot, a singular person or a pair will go into the pug queue.
Until there is some good PvE content in this game, PvP is about all there is to really test yourself and your build. PvE is also stagnant and stale.
Please join the organizedpPVP channel. I can usually get on a few private matches daily pretty easy. Or... Get together a pugmade to give those premades a go.
And yeah, the queue system could use some work friend, but there are so few of us that enjoy this part of the game... And the devs know it.
I agree with you in connection with the queues thing, to seperate the queues for 2 parts. However, the Boot Camp is a really great opportunity to learn much more about not just the PvP but else, including skills, gears, and so on. With this knowledge all of you, who has graduated or participated on sessions, can play PvE as well as PvP.
Additionally, as thishorizon said: you can join to the OPvP channel in game, so you will be able to team yourself with other pugs and get a pugmade. Furthermore, in this thread, where a good idea has been released, a PvP Training Fleet for those pvp'ers who have missed the Boot Camp. The best of it, that it will have open events on weekends for those, who are not members of that training fleet, named as "The PvP Academy". there will be some coaches of Boot Camp, and some other experienced players to help anyone on these events as well as in that fleet.
This would be simple to do, just add 1 more arena and cap and hold queue where the "queue team" option is greyed out.
Also this should be a cross facton queue where it is possible for fed and kdf to be on same team. This could be explained by them saying it is a battle simulation contest hosted by Ferengi or something. This is so they wouldn't have to add theses new queues for FvF, FvK and KvK.
The current queues should be left alone though, premades can queue, and solo players who don't mind running into premades or don't want to wait on the pug queue will still be able to join this one also.
Lots of us can't always be on teamspeak due to having to watch family or just wanting to listen to music instead and it would be nice to be able to have a queue where chances are you won't have to fight others using teamspeak and be at a disadvantage.
Honestly I think the queues would be better if it were like "that other game"'s lfg system where you select what your role is and the system tries to pair you accordingly. I know we don't have the robust pvp playerbase to support that all the time but it'd be nice if the queue system could try to do a better job of making a more effective team, and to be sure the queue system doesn't snag, just putting together a kitchen sink team when there just aren't enough players to make 2 full competent teams.
I don't mind going in as a pug versus a premade, and I never not once chortled as a premade seeing a pug. It's only frustrating as a pug when you land and see 4 engineer cruisers, and you're the healer and it turns out 2 of them heal and the other two are....damage, i guess.
Maybe its the current queue system that actually lowers PvP participation?
Nothing more disheartening than being subject to a whitewash game every time you go in because you aren't always mixed with a good pug team and you end up against a premade, which 9 times out of 10 will wipe the floor.
Many people are just casual PvPers, the queue system as it stands doesn't play for that.

Like.... No new maps in 3 years know it.
Anywho
Have fun kill bad guys.
