Ok, so I think i figured out the mechanic with the warp cores.

With any engine you shouldn't be able to go to warp without a warp core, pretty simple.

It seems tho, that with the M.A.C.O. engine you do not need a warp core

It also appears the same goes for Borg engines.

This maybe working as intended but doesn't make much sense to me.

I don't understand the MACO Engine cause I don't have one and don't know it's effects...,
But the BORG Engine could be explained by the fact that there's so much interconnectivity with the BORG embellishments, that perhaps it is somehow a WARP core in its own right.

A simple change in its description could indicate this.

It is probably because those 2 engines were given a speed boost for sector space before the warp core system. (Borg warp 14 and Maco warp 12) If these bonuses were still manually set for the warp speed then when they adjusted all the engines they might have been missed.

Yeah, agreed, which is why i said it maybe working as intended, but surely you still need the warp core to power the borg engines.

I suspect this is just something to do with the fact they both already exceed warp 10, and that the mechanic hasn't been updated to handle this yet. I assume the fix will be to make the borg and maco engine have a multiplier that works with the warp core.

    Addtional:
Does this also mean warp cores as parts of sets. If not, only an aesthetic change, would be to put the warp cores under or above the Deflector, Impulse and Shields just so it doesn't break up the look of having a set fitted.

Or They could just be planning to actually add a BORG Warp-Core later on down the road and will adjust it all at that time.

(Perhaps another addition to the set?)
