An excerpt from the logs of the IRW Viserex, prior to the formation of the Romulan Republic...
The might of the Romulan military machine was splintered.
This singular thought ran through the minds of many Romulan commanders. In some it secretly inspired fear and new heights of paranoia, while in others it inspired a need to become the warlord and control the systems it was their duty to patrol with an iron fist to preserve what was left of the Empire in the wake of Hobus's wrath. Like an angry god the star had swept through them, a raging bull rather than the elegant bird of prey that Romulan strength embodied. It treated the Romulan species like insignificant gnats, brushing them aside as it exacted its vengeance. The power vacuum that single act of terrorism by interstellar phenomenon created left gaping holes in the chain of command that made those lesser officers forget their duty.
Commander Teiberyn of the warbird Viserex was not one of those commanders. When angry it was his opinion that Admiral Taris should hunt down those that refused to join her and execute them as deserters, even destroying their ships if necessary. During the best of times the Romulan people always had a need to fear the Tal Shiar, the Romulan secret police who caused a spike of paranoia in even the most lawful of citizens. They should not have to fear their own military too, especially now during a time of crisis. This was an opinion he kept to himself, and not because of the Tal Shiar. He did not expend a great deal of time worrying about them. The Tal Shiar would do what the Tal Shiar wished regardless of what mental state he resided in. No, his rational side was more often the victor and he knew voicing such feelings would do nothing to bring his people back together.
He exited the lift and strode onto the bridge, his bridge, with an air of confidence that inspired solidarity among his crew. Even now in the face of such a disaster their commanding officer remained strong, thus the Viserex was strong, and if one ship could be strong and retain their honor so could others. In this there was hope for the Romulan empire. Duty. The crew of the Viserex made it their sole, driving focus.

Has anyone else had server issues today? Every few minutes I've had server not responding messages and kept getting booted. I managed to get some fleet marks in on the starbase projects and then just gave up. Hopefully it's not like that tomorrow, I'd like to try out the Crystalline Entity event after work.
