Common BOFF candidates for projects

We currently have a project requiring common (WHITE) Human Bridge Officer (BOFF) candidates. If I remember correctly, we'll soon need some of other species too.

Now... is there a way to obtain them without purchasing them via the Exchange? (All the BOFF candidates I keep earning via assignments are always blue and purple, so the project won't accept them.) Currently, the Exchange price for one is 175K EC, which is way too much considering we need 30 BOFFs for the current project and more to come.

    Yea... I know about the exchange - way too expensive (as I explained in my first post.)

    DOFF assignments seem to only pay out in blue and purple (and every once in a while a green.) I've never seen a white one from the DOFF assignments. I was just hoping that I was just missing them.

    I think you get some white bridge officers at the start of the game?

    240 dil/boff is really your only option, and iirc they converts to fleet credits at a much better rate than directly contributing dilithium.

    I tried purchasing the BOFFs via the NPC at ESD, but it won't let me. (And yes, I have plenty of dilithium.) All of the options are greyed out.


    Edit: I think it's because all my candidate slots are full...
