Have you even read the Ask Cryptic? You have it ALL backward - they will be OP because they get their own exclusive ships + consoles from c-store Romulan ships + all the ships/gear and consoles of there chosen ally. They can mix and match consoles and gear that Fed or KDF will NOT have access to(as it appears right now)
This is NOT right and will make the Romulans super OP.
Now the feds will know what it feels like only feds will have access to this, it will only become OP if the Romulan consoles and ships are OP...and they would be OP even if they had no access to Fed/KDF in the first place and that's a whole different story.
Can't have a honest conversation because of a white knight with power
While it doesn't add up and your points are 100% valid.
The truth is, it is rushed.
Sadly the gaming industry has no room for complete games full of amazing content made with passion.
every game made these days is rushed FACT.
there are deadlines and accounts to fill, all of which get in the way of what a game is meant to be.
Sadly...
Problem is major as the people who start Romulans will have access to 2 different factions worth of gear/ships.
How can they fairly justify this to people who have invested so much in their existing characters?
The question will become very concerning if they get unique consoles from their new Romulans ships - that are exclusive to Romulan ships AND they can add the consoles from their ally.
Talk about imbalance in the game - right there - it would make regular Fed/KDF characters obsolete.

Just a broken record with no proof, how can you even say something will be OP without it even being out?

Just like the US forces Afganistan to build it's own gear? Oh, wait...
Given that there is a new holding coming (Romulan Colony?), odds are THAT will be what builds Romulan ships.
I can tell exactly what Cryptic is trying to do here, for once. And it make sense. The romulan people have had their heart and soul ripped out, their defense complex destroyed, and any industry they have left is going towards Mol'Rihan to insure that they actually HAVE a home.
Hence the Fed/KDF fleets that are advising/Training Romulan captains allowing them to acquire ships from them. I don't know exactly HOW, or if they will be modified to be quickly and obviously distinctly Romulan, but it's exactly what we do in real life. (minus the blinding incompetence and unwillingness to learn of this practice's RL counterparts).
And, the Republic is looking for new ways to supplement their navy. The romulans HAVE kind of been one-trick ponies. Warbird this, Warbird that... they don't even have the Klingon's variety of ships. So, it makes sense that they're acquiring other navy's already proven designs, and looking to see what concepts they can integrate into their fleet in the future.

And the Romulan people are going to tell every secret to their new friends and then proceed to kill their own kind in a war that's not really theirs. How deviously Romulan.
so... we all resignated? . PUSH for an proper answer to this. an answer that makes sense in at least one way (ship- and gear-sharing in whole makes no sense to me, and to do it one-sided just seems crazy from here)...
c'mon dev's. plz give us some sugar that not turns out to taste like salt/scares the hell out of us ... PLZZZ
Romulans have acess to tiers 1-3. After that they have to use romulan ships only. This makes perfect sense to me!
Also I don't hear to many people complaining about getting the Romulan Rep system gear and passive traits as well.
Those Plasma torpedos about one in fiveplayers are using!
I am almost tier 5 Romulan Rep. system. I cannot wait to get my fourth complete set for my Chel Gret ship!!
Prototype Plasma beam array here I come!
...referring to lor dev-blog 2, i don't think it only will be t1-3....... i'm getting disgusted. which means something... i even had no prob with season7 when it came out ...

Whats the point?
A Romulan has chosen to play as a Romulan , the second he Borgs up or uses Federation tech he is saying "im a Vulcan please kick me "
