The more im thinking the romulan release style is a good idea, especially for my kdf bretheren. Think about it. If rommies were an entirely new faction, you would see a 50% drop off in population of both fed and klingon. While this would have little effect on fedbears due to their obnoxious numbers, it would really hurt us low pop proud klinks.
Also once the afterglow of the rom experience is over in a few months, the people that are dedicated romulans would have an empty faction as most people will go back to their original factions. I dunno while i would have loved the new fresh experience, in the short term {klingon} and longterm {romulan} it may have stunk alotta fromunda cheese
i do empathize with you, a full faction would be great, i too find the idea of the RSE being a factions stooge off putting to say the least, and in direct conflict with everything trek. at least we still get warbirds and tbh the thought of pvping other rival romulans opens up alot of rping potential. "ahhh captain soryuk, You ally with federation scum and call yourself Romulan?!"
all Romulans should ally with klingons imo, feds pose the greatest threat due to numbers and geographical control, though they lack skill.
The problem is that people wanted, then expected, a full blown faction, comparable to the two existing ones int terms of PvE, PvP, ship tree, plotline, unique gear... but this does not seem to be it, from what I can decipher. Perhaps this launch will work without a hitch. But it is a rather sour thing to take. I think the buildup was quite misleading.

If noticed from this thread, you will notice that most are rolling a Fed-Rom. So think about it: Most people pick KDF because they want a cloaking ship. Now they can "stay" within Fed and still have a BoP/Warbird, not to mention that their hypotherical-carrier can cloak.
1 - from the RP point of view - Romulans would never join either faction
2 - DStahl stated there will be proper Romulan fleets/holdings in the future
can't imagine how?
what if my Romulan in KDF mains the Vo'Quv? is he going to loose access to the KDF ships - also the ones bought from the Zen Store - after this conversion? how is this easier to implement as a new fleet holding right in may?

he did say FLEETS...The Roms will stay allied to either Fed or KDF, so they still will have access to their stuff....but a lot of people are wanting to do ROMULAN (unique to them in terms of bases,/holdings/etc.) fleets, but at the same time dont want to have to start over at this point, but maybe later on after the "glow" has worn off.
The idea of a ROMULAN FACTION seems to lead one down the path of expecting a Romulan Fleet system with comparable ships, missions and assets to the Federation and KDF.
What we get is a Romulan RACE that has to pick and choose an existing faction to join at a predetermined point.
This is entirely unacceptable and I feel somewhat intentionally misled (yet again I am reminded of all the kdf promises made in 2010).
I will wait and see if cryptic is smart enough to delay the release until the EXISTING SYSTEMS can be copied over to actually create a new faction, otherwise I am pretty fed up with the astute lack of logical decision making by Cryptic and their PWE overlords and tire of the grindfestivus and lock box lotto scams.
As a former FED player i am upset that we were not a full faction till Season 6 this whole time KDF said they were getting shafted, but it seems that all this time Feds were getting it since they were not a faction till Star bases came a long. So upset about that.grrrrrr:mad:

Feds still had FLEETS from Launch until season 6, Romulans won't get fleets, we have to join Fed or KDF fleets. And we can't Fleet with fellow Romulans that picked the other alliance.
Since Season 6 Starbases are now Part of Fleets and Faction Progression, so its reasonable to want a Starbase for your fleet.

Yeah, it's gonna be lop-sided.
